FanArt: Final Fantasy Tribute

As the writing on the picture suggests this is a "Final Fantasy Tribute". Those who know the games will recognise the what this picture is inspired by. To those who have never seen a copy of a Final Fantasy game; the picture is based on the cover art of the games which features a silhoute featuring an aspect of the game with a graident laid over the top. The font was the closest match that could be found to that used on the covers.

The characters feature in games 5-10. Far left is Faris on the Dragon/Hiiryu of Final Fantasy V. Faris is a tom-boy pirate and lost princess. Next is Terra from number VI, part human part esper. The middle figures are Sephiroth and Squall of FF VII and VIII respectively. Sephiroth is hailed as one of the 'best' villans of the game series. Squall is the uptight hero who learns what it means to love. The spear weilding character from number IX is Freya, a Burmecian Dragon Knight. She looks like a part rat and can jump to extrodinary heights to rain spears on her enemies. Finally, from FFX, the first Final Fantasy on the PS2, is Valfour the Aeon. Aeons are powerfull supernatural beings able to be summoned by trained individuals, and Vafour is the first summon recieved in the game.

*Very* nice. Great balance, and a beautiful tribute to Amano's art style. Good choices of characters to respresent the games, though I wish you could've worked all the games in... but that might have messed with the balance. Overall, great job.

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Thanks, I really love Amano's work. I couldn't have worked all the games in anyway; I haven't played them all. Mind you, I haven't played number 6."

Nicely done in that FF style. As long as we can forget FF8. Boring I thought. Much rather liked 7 and 9. And the ability to give the main characters daft names was just hilarious.

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Oh FF8 wasn't too bad, but I guess I'm biased as it was the first one I played. But Squall- quite forgettable. Ah yes hilarious names, my brother's come up with quite a few of those, not all G rated either. And no one can forget Kuja or Sephiroth in a hurry."

Awesome! Could go on the cover of a new FF anytime!

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "You’re so flattering"

Not familair with Final Fantasy, but this is still a professional looking peice.

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Thank you. The games have good plot lines music and graphics. The best are the older ones on PS1 (FF 7-9). The game series is actually older than me! The very first came out in 87 I believe."

this looks so much like the front cover of the final fantasy games!!! wot paints u use?

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "I didn’t use paints. It’s done in pencil and a colour gradient was put on it in photoshop using a layer set to overlay (think that was the setting or something similar). The writing was added with Flash MX."

That looks incredible! It looks way professional, and I love the characters you chose to represent each game. They’re all nicely drawn and aesthetically placed.

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Thanks, it took a bit of thought picking the characters. I didn’t want to use the most common characters associated with each game (slight lapse using Seph though- but he acts as a nice counterpoint to Squall). "
