| 8 Jun 2006 | Anonymous | Please tell me how to do the mouth and the nose pleeeaaassseee i love your pic toatally awsome Maria Sjöstrand replies: "Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I don't really know what to say, there's no big secret how to draw the nose or the mouth. Her nose was actually made very simple, with few shadows as you can see. The only advice I can give you is to practice and look at lots of portrait pictures." | |

The funny thing is that I didn't use a refrence for this but it ended up looking like Rogue from the movie anyway." | |

| 20 Dec 2006 | A Wild Berry | The eyes look more like Storm, but a good drawing nonetheless!! =0) Maria Sjöstrand replies: "Thank you but it actually wasn’t my intention to make her look like in the movie. " | |
| 22 Nov 2007 | Groovybean | I love her! She's so pretty! Nicely done! I have trouble trying to draw faces realisticly. Any advice on how to shade and proportion faces correctly? Maria Sjöstrand replies: "Thank you!I must be boring and say that the best tip I can give you is to practice. And when you’re using a reference especially make sure to really study the picture. Don’t assume the proportion of the face, then it’s easy to, for example, exaggerate the size of the eyes etc. I think the biggest problem for most people is that they haven’t study the human anatomy enough. So use references and do a lot of sketches then I’m sure you will get the proportions right soon. When it comes to shading I usually just take a pencil with a hard lead (H, 2H, 4H) and vary the pressure depending on how dark shadows I want. " | |
| 28 Dec 2007 | Satyra J. George | Amazing, it does look like the Rogue from the movie, and the proportions are perfect. I wish I has your talent. Maria Sjöstrand replies: "Thank you! " | |
| 6 Jan 2008 | Jessica "horselover" Hornsey | This is a really great picture!!! I have never been good at drawing people!! I only ever draw manga and horses.. can u give me some tips? please. well done anyway!!! Jessica Maria Sjöstrand replies: "Thank you, I’m glad you liked it. I just recently answered a pretty similar question from ‘groovybean’ about the subject so I refer to the answer I gave him/her here above, that’s the best tip I can give you. Lots of practice and good references are your best help in the beginning until you have learned the basics. Good luck!" | |
