FanArt: Beyond the GraveThis is Grave... Beyond the Grave, formerly known as Brandon Heat, the best sweeper the syndacite ever had. He died protecting the syndacite from his former best friend, Harry. However, modern advances in technology have been used to raise him back to life and make him stronger. It's now his mission to take revenge by simply kicking ass. I drew this from the original Gungrave PS2 game (you can tell because I gave him darker hair than the anime). Even though it looks pretty good, it looks really bad when you put it up side-by-side with one of the official pictures of him. I really should have looked at something while I was drawing him. Oh well.

David 'Strife' Streiff replies: "In that case, I highly suggest that you try out the PS2 game, Gungrave. Compared to how he looks in the game, this is a really shoddy picture. It's a very stylish, very fun game."
| 9 Jun 2004 | Person Who Can't Draw power_sparks@hot...com> | Hmm, I never played the game, but dont worry if it doesn't look like the original. Stylized is more fun anyway ^_^ David 'Strife' Streiff replies: "Well, you see the problem is the original is even more stylized. His character was so ornate looking, they had to trim it down quite a bit when they made an anime based off of the game (the anime hasn't hit stateside yet, but it'll probably be here within a year). They changed him into a plain black trench coat for most of the series because drawing him like he was in the game is nearly impossible. Thanks for commenting!" | |
| 9 Sep 2004 | Dosu | Man really cool pic!!! Grave has got to be one of the coolest video game characters since Zero form megaman X, If you haven't already you might want to check out the anime!!! Also they are making a sequel to gungrave called Gungrave overdose!!! David 'Strife' Streiff replies: "I already got the first DVD of Gungrave (with the box, because I'm a geek). I can't wait for the sequel game to come. That game is gonna rule!" | |
| 14 Sep 2004 | Dosu | Hey it's me again, sorry to keep bothering you like this ,but I just thought that if you like gungrave and Naruto, you might enjoy some of the following anime/video games-Generator gawl (anime), King of bandit Jing (anime), Hellsing (anime), the Shadow heats series (video game, the second game comes out the 28th!!!) and Last Exile (anime). I have a ton more, but I don't think you want me to list them all!!! David 'Strife' Streiff replies: "Never worry about bothering me. Even if I were the busiest man on earth I would still love to talk to people about the things I like. In fact, I wouldn't even care if you started e-mailing me or something. Anyways, I have a broad taste in anime, everything from something cute and sexy like Love Hina, as vulgar as Excel Saga, as violent as Blood, as weird as FLCL, as touching as KiKi's Delivery Service, as unknown as Hare Guu (not in the US yet, but will be next year), or as deep as Eva. I watch just about anything short of the kiddy shows. I saw Hellsing and liked it except the end (they needed to do more with Paladin Anderson). I've seen an episode of Last Exile and am very seriously considering buying the box set whenever it's out if it isn't already. I have the first manga of King of Bandit Jing, I just haven't read it yet. I've never seen the other two though. I'll check to see if Movie Gallery has them and I'll rent them to check them out. Thanks." | |
| 19 Nov 2004 | KingArthurCompanion | well well..... i actually kinda like your art style! it is very unique XD My sister and I are some of the most harsh criticizers on Elfwood and we pride ourself on it..... it is not realy that we dont have lives but we just have allot of time on our hands. and we have made a effort to harrass the awful artist on elfwood. but my sister and I like your art give your self a pat on the back!! XD and i seem very cocky right now but i am not this comment just came out that way..... hmm David 'Strife' Streiff replies: "Yeah, I understand the need for harsh critics on here. I hate to say this, but some of the people on here really shouldn't be on here. Granted, some others blow my art away. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoy it!" | |
