FanArt: Suicide

I LOVE the dark crystal, and beside this picture being a brilliant fanart from it, it is a GREAT picture in its own right. Beautiful line art, great colouring, fantastic expression and movement. Makes me cry to look at it.

I'v seen the movie rreally great and i saa the deletet scene
really good how they made it.

even though jim henson and brian froud compaired the urRu and the skeksis to good versus evil, if you look at the urskeks (and the whole movie for that matter) you would probably find that it was more a question of decadence and corruption versus simplicity and apathy... the skeksis (which were evil) had the crystal so they had the power... the urRu had no power and no crystal (not even a damn shard!) and thus lived a peaceful lifestyle... that didnt seem to care much that thier worse halves had complete controll over thra... good indeed....... however, sweet fanart dude!

for anyone else who would protest, the "mystics" were called that a lot in The Dark Crystal... but their race name is UrRu. though you never hear "UrRu" spoken in the movie, Brian Froud (who designed them-as well as all the other characters) published a book called The World Of the Dark Crystal. it explains that UrRu is half of Urskek (another name you never hear in TDC) Ur(Ru)skek(sis)..... another point i would like to make is that the skeksis themselves pronounced their race name "skeksies"(like pixies) but the "true" pronunciation is skeksis (like axis). i think the mispronunciation is due to the skeksis' accent. they were originally supposed to speak their own language, and their lines were going to be subtitled... (i guess the podlings' dialogue just didn't matter..... overall, loooverly picture... wonderful that you know the history of Thra too! (the world of TDC is called Thra in-case there are any wanderers who don't know...)

Wow, i didnt kno ppl would kno about that movie b/c its so old, but none the less good, even though its different. Good job, i get the feeling im there, and about to scream look out!! Good job

ELFWITHABOW&ARROW - In the book, the Mystics are referred to as the UrRu's.

MARTIN - I disagree with your assessment about the Mystics. I think they cared very much about the fact that the Skeksis were in control. You have to realize that they were limited as far as their power was concerned, and that they had to wait for the perfect time to make their move. If the Skeksis were going to be defeated, they had to be rejoined with the urRu's. And that couldn't happen until Jen healed the crystal, during the Great Conjunction. If they didn't care, they would not have sent Jen on the quest to find the shared and heal the crystal.

Also, one of the Skeksis refers to the Mystics as "the UrRu's." If you listen closely, you can hear him say that at the end of the film, when the Mystics arrive at the castle.
