FanArt: Ronan & Firenze

Brand new Harry Potter art! I haven't done any in forever...at least a year. These characters are from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The red guy is Ronan, and he's only in the first book for a page, while if you've read the books you know the blonde is Firenze. I believe he's supposed to have facial hair but I decided I don't like that idea. I realize that the horse portions of their bodies are far smaller in proportion to the human portions...I suppose I did that to make sure I could fit them on the page. They're just moseying through the Forbidden Forest, having a chat about the strange position of last night's stars.

I'm quite happy with this, although I do recognize many flaws. This is only my second try at semi-realistic natural settings/backgrounds, so I'm well aware that its not the best looking forest, but I'm still quite fond of it. Also I know their faces are weird...I suppose I was having a bit of an off day while drawing them. Ah well.

Inked with Micron pens and colored with Prismacolor pencils. Tell me what you think!

Prismacolor pencils?! Eep! That's amazing! I love the vibrant colors and they both look adorable!

11 Casey Rae Vange replies: "Thanks so much!!! I think they're cute too, but when my brother saw it he said "Thats so gay", like because they're walking shirtless together, they must be more than friends. *rolls eyes* Some people. Anyways--thanks so much for the wonderful comment! Prismacolors usually are this bright, so its not very hard to get vibrant colors so long as you press real hard ~_^"

I love the forest, it looks like something from a fairy tale. Nice job on Ronan and Firenze too.

3 Casey Rae Vange replies: "Yay! I'm so glad you like the forest--it was a big challenge for me, and I'm trying so hard to make some good-quality backgrounds, so thanks for that!"

You did such a vibrant and smooth application of the colors. Prismas are the best, aren't they? Keep it up! You are very talented!

6 Casey Rae Vange replies: "Thanks!!! Yes, I love prismas, they're pretty much all I use. I actually want to practice with markers, but they're a lot harder than pencils I think. Also, I just don't have the time or money!!! Thanks so much for the comment!"
