FanArt: Darth Maul Charicature

The art teacher decided to make us draw a charicature with a big head of a famous person. I chose Darth Maul. Since he was kind of dead after Episode I, I duct taped him back together, as you can see in the picture. Its one of my few pictures done completely in colored pencils. Comments and criticism are welcome.

Nice work! I greatly admire anyone who can work with colored pencil.
Now for the critcism, which is very light this time as there is absolutely nothing wrong with the figure: your strokes seem a bit one-directional. They all go in that 45 degree angle for the most part (exceptions are the floor).
I want to recommend this tutorial that has really helped me (http://www.portrait-artist.org/color/colored-pencil-tutorial.html). It's not 100% related to your supposed problem, but you should be able to pick up a thing or two. There are lots of other tutorials there for pencil, painting, and basic form drawing as well. You might find something useful!

:-) Flint ´Sparky´ Garrabrant replies: "Thanks for the compliments, as well as criticism Lauren. I had actually meant to have the strokes going in one direction because when I tried to do otherwise in the amount of time I had to do this, the pictures would always end up looking rather sloppy. But I will take into consideration your advice and the website. I wish I could fix this picture now, but colored pencils don't take kindly to being erased. ~_~"

this is very cool, you have the marking on his face done very nicely, and I am VERY greatful it is not Jar Jar... (hopes she does not start an argument with jar jar fans, but she cant stand him)

:-) Flint ´Sparky´ Garrabrant replies: "Hey, thanks! And yes, Jar Jar does seem a bit overly loud and obnoxious. Now he thinks he can be a senator! Gah! Anyway... Thanks for commenting."

Oh my, he looks exactly like Darth Maul, very good. hehe, very nice with the big head. And the light sword is so cute! Sorry, had to say that... Good job!

:-) Flint ´Sparky´ Garrabrant replies: "Thanks Karin. That's okay. Charicatures are supposed to be cute and goofy. And have a bobble-head. The bobble-head is required."

Ha, very cute pic of Lord Maul himself. The ducktape holding him together is quite funny. But normally he would use the Dark Side of the Force to heal his wound. Keep up the good work.
