FanArt: Xylomid

One word : foul.

Another recurring monster from Final Fantasy series! This Xylomid, based on the one scaring you off in the Calm Lands of Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2, is certainly the ugliest thing I have ever made... on purpose! I do not allow it to enter my room at night : with its glowing eyes and teeth, it would cause countless nightmares. ;-)

You're not familiar with the name? Xylomids are also known as Ma(r)lboros (hence the no-smoking sign...), or as Morbols, or even as Oscars, throughout the FF series.

3 hours work, 5 cm tall, 8 cm wide. Fimo clay. October 2005.
I took this picture and edited it in Photoshop 7.0, so I hold full rights to it.

Hahahaha! Awesome! It's nice to see these monsters get some recognition at last. The characters get all the love.
Nice sculpture. Brings me the memories of past FFs, especially FFT 2 The swirly colors almost seem to suggest a layer of clear-ish goo coating its body. Nice touch! (no pun intended)

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "I covered its tentacles with Fimo Liquid to give them this shiny look. I'm glad you like it!"

Ah, I knew who did this one as soon as i noticed the clever "no smoking sign" in the background! Good one, a Malboro! If I had a dollar for every time one of those things confused my party and made them kill themselves, well, I wouldn't have been so mad about it! Anyways, awesome sculpture as always and congets on the well-deserved mod's!

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "Yeah, one dollar for each whole-party confusion and I'd be rich, too! Whoa, I'll think of it next time I'll meet one, it'll make things funnier. Thank you for recognizing and loving my style. "

Even as a 52 Mnk in Pashow Marshlands I hated getting near the Malboro's of FFXI. This is so well done, so realistic, it brings back those memories -such fond memories-, even though I stopped playing the game in February. LOL. This is very good. ^.^ *2 thumbs up*

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "Yes, in every game they are dreadful creatures... I'm happy it brings you good memories all the same! Thanks for commenting!"

So to Nicholas and Billy, first off THIS IS NOT A DRAWING! it is a clay scupture, if you took the time to read it you would not have embarressed yourselves. Second off go do some research on the little critter. he is more then likly inspired by the final fantasy games (Malboro i think) and you will see that he looks EXACTLY what they are supposed to look like. being only five centimeters tall would make this qutie a challenge and it is quite an acomplishment for the artist.
to the artist: some people...anyway...only 5cm!!! very cool. these things piss me off in final fantasy*shudders from horrible memories* but very cool nonetheless. it looks like its ready to attack. i could never do something like this so i admire you obvious talent. i seem to be on a role today for defending artists against the immature here on the woods...those people become very annoying.

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "Don't get so mad about Bilcholas, this monster just duplicated itself to seem more dangerous. When you see a mirror, it seems there's two of you, but it's an illusion, right? If this person wants to show to the Wonderful Wide World their stupidity, it's their problem and I respect their choice. Not that I like getting such messages anyway!!! Thanks for your concern. Humanity desperately needs people like you. Thanks for coming and supporting me!"

love this piece... although I hate Marlboros, they shouldn't be allowed in FF... Must have taken hours to make though. Ah well, job well done so it's so worth it2

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "Yes, nasty creatures... it seems no one likes them! Why did I have the idea of making one... I wonder...Thanks for your comment!"

I just cant get over the detail u put into ur clay creatures ^^ lol yea he does look a bit like an artichoke never really thought about that while play ff... Awesome <3

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "Actually, I always thought that Ochus look more like artichokes than Malboros do... But that does not stop me from loving to eat artichokes! Thanks for liking my stuff!"

SKARY these are almost indistruktable on X

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "Just get Wakka's ultimate ball, his Combo Overdrive, succeed in 12 hits, give him back a full Overdrive with another character's Transfer and do it again (and again). Nothing insurmountable..."

Iv played all the games and that is very good. Not sure about the smoking sign though?

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "Not sure about your liking it, or your understanding? Read the description anyway, I didn't intend it to have any morale issues; just a bit of fun with themed settings. Was that a good idea? Not for me to say... some liked it though! Thanks for coming!"

I find him irrepressably adorable and cute for some strange demented reason. I just used all my vocab words for the day. Good job!

:-) Yasmine Dufour Mayor *Veya Wolfheart* replies: "There's nothing wrong with finding it cute... as long as you don't end up in front of one live specimen, three times as big as you are! Thanks for sharing your opinion!"
