FanArt: Nauticon4a: Trench

...or Undertow. Either way, this guy is a nuclear submarine.

NAUTICON: TRENCH
Function: Tactical Support

“You cannot fight what you cannot find.”

PROFILE:
Sullen and solitary, Trench is only happy when patrolling the deepest, darkest waters. It is only in these places that he feels safe. He prefers to strike from hiding, and fade away. His Nauticon team-mates find him creepy, so this suits them fine.

ABILITIES:
Trench possesses tremendous strength, and is specially constructed to resist water pressure at great depths. Possesses a sonar squeal that allows him to navigate and “see” in total darkness, while internal dampening devices make him effectively invisible to other radar/sonar devices. Only the truly foolhardy would challenge him in his own murky domain.

In his submarine mode, he uses an array of torpedoes, and powerful sub-surface-to-air programmable long-range missiles to strike at his targets. In robot mode he wields a Sonic Emitter rifle, that he can use to boost his sonar detection range to a 200 miles, and detect disturbances in the water as minute as a beach-ball. By concentrating the sonic emission, it becomes a powerful directed sonic discharge capable of disrupting electronics and shattering steel. Trench combines with fellow Nauticons to form SEAQUAKE.

WEAKNESSES:
Trench’s loner behaviour often gets him separated from his team, leaving both vulnerable. Due to his bulk, he is not particularly agile, on land or in the sea. His fear of the surface sometimes keeps him from pursuing regular maintenance, leading to breakdowns and low fuel levels. His visual sensors are specifically calibrated to navigate in the underwater murk. Sudden bursts of bright light could potentially burn them out.

If theres one thing I can appreciate about all the TFs is their personality, Trench sounds like the quite guy you see at school who sits in the backk of the class all the time, and I can't waite to see what SeaQuake looks like, he's bound to be massive(dare I say bigger then Devastor) because of Dreadnought.

:-) Zachariah Campbell replies: "Heh. Well TF sizes were never consistent... sure Dreadnaught turns into a battleship, but his robot mode's probably only the size of Prime or a Dinobot by comparison. TFs grow and shrink quite a bit... how else can an 80' F-15 jet, and a 10' Ford Bronco be the same size as robots? 2Seaquake is coming! Soon... well, after the Mods' vacation. And he WILL be big! 2"

Trench's original name was: Undertow.. and his quote, "Under the water only I can hear you scream"

:-) Zachariah Campbell replies: "I mention his original name above... Undertow is a good name, but I wanted to avoid re-using GI Joe names on these guys... not that Hasbro seems to care about being consistent with their character names anymore. 10As for the quote, I didn't remember that one, but it's pretty cool too, even if it riffs on the tagline from ALIEN. 12"
