FanArt: TF04: SMOGThis is a sketch of the character I used to play on an old Transformers MUSH... anyone remember Smog? Originally, he was one of many transforming robot characters I had when I was a kid, but when I joined the MUSH, I decided to make him as a Decepticon. :) FUNCTION: CHEMICAL WARFARE 'Eat my dust, and it'll eat you.' PROFILE: Smog has one foot in the scrapyard and he knows it. Once the foreman of a chemical factory on Cybertron, his casual cruelty and willingness to test compounds on his workers attracted the attentions of Megatron. Slowly decaying from exposure to the very chemicals he creates, his body leaks corrosive fumes that make him very unpopular with his comrades. Although his condition has left him a decrepit hulk of his former self, he still remains devoted to the 'Con cause. He is fiendishly driven in developing volatile new formulas to use against the ‘Bots, and has little concern for his own miserable life. Unaware of just how much the others 'Cons truly despise him, he constantly attempts to gain their friendship, and prove himself worthy of their respect.
ABILITIES: Smog's torso houses an internal chemical factory that can produce a variety of deadly compounds and deliver them in vapour form through the large turbines on his forearms. Unfortunately, the seals on this system disintegrated long ago, making him as much a hazard to friend as foe. Smog transforms into a decrepit, bomb-laden A-10 Thunderbolt II jet, which constantly belches a stream of foul chemicals in his wake. In addition to his acidic smoke clouds and chemical bombs, he carries a depleted-uranium gatling cannon in both modes. WEAKNESSES: Smog is very prone to physical and mental breakdowns due to his condition. Often in his zeal to prove his worth to the cause, he takes great personal risks, with disastrous results. DESCRIPTION: SMOG is a hulking mass of loose parts, corroded metal, and grinding pistons. His olive green finish is so covered in grime that it almost looks like cammo pattern, and acidic green-grey smoke escapes from every breach in his armor. An antique head with non-human features and a large trap-jaw rests precariously atop his broad shoulders, emitting tarry vapour trails and insistent audio rattles that resemble a hacking cough. The bomb-laden wings of an A-10 Thunderbolt are crookedly folded across his back and the large engines adorn his powerful forearms. The closer he is, the more you feel his chemical vapours eating away at YOUR armor...whatever he's got, it might be catching...! RP NOTES: Smog is basically the awkward heavy-set guy with really bad breath and personal hygiene that stands too close and talks in your face at the comic shop. He is simultaneously pathetic, and yet still obnoxious. You know... exactly the power-fantasy type character you would want to play in a fantasy game, right? :)

 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 13 Jun 2003 | Wondering Fighter | I like this guy already ^_^ he sounds like such a cool character, it would have been nice to see him in the transformers movie. to bad his own weapons are slowly eating him alive, maybe he'll get a touch up every once in a while so he doesn't completely rot away? any who your TF fan are is always cool. but one thing though, I'm having trouble figure exactly how he transtforms into his vehicle mode, i figure that his legs must up front somwhere or more likly the cockpit but the feet make it hard to tell that, oh well doesn't matter he's still really cool. Zachariah Campbell replies: "Wellll... there are a few liberties in the transformation for style reasons... but he does transform properly, I think.Let's see... His legs shorten and fold over into the nose of the A-10 (if you look close, you can see a hint of the shark mouth on his leg). The knee guards are folded in, so they don't become part of the jet. The feet become the cockpit hump itself, and then the plates slide back to reveal the glass. From there, his torso twists, his arms and shoulders become the tail of the jet, hiding his head, and his chest closes up into the fuselage. The wings straighten out obviously, and then his "backpack" (part of the chem-factory) remains on the underbelly of the jet mode, the only non-standard A-10 feature. Does that work? " | |
| 3 Sep 2004 | Kris | This guy's awesome! Very few people work that hard at making a background for characters they create. The drawing, and the story are indeed incredible. | |
