Elfwood
was opened by Thomas Abrahamsson
Orginally,
the name of the project was Lothlorien and was only focused on high fantasy
art done by amateurs. When opened, Elfwood featured the art of three artists
(Thomas being one of them)

Extranet is opened
Before
this point, all new art was emailed to Thomas who put it up by hand. With
the new extranet (originally named the "intranet"), users can
manage their own accounts.

FARP
is the Fantasy Art Resource Project at Elfwood, with tutorials of various
relevant topics.

Elfwood
is closed for new users for the first time.
For
a couple of weeks, Elfwood had to close down for new members (for the
first, but not last, time) due to overwhelming workload.

Feb 16

1000 artists.
Today, the 1000th
artist was added to the Lothlorien area of the
Science Fiction and Fantasy art gallery Elfwood. This makes
Elfwood to one of the worlds largest online galleries.

Woodchat email list is opened.

The
ERB crew is founded.
To bring
order back to the Elfwood chaos of rule breakers and other naughty actions,
the Elfwood Review Board was founded. They are responsible for the Elfwood
rules and also occasionally enforce them.

hardware is upgraded to PIII-1000mhz and 1 gb RAM.

is closed due to death threats to the management from some annoyed members/visitors.
Some canadian guy threatened to kill the ERB crew.

We gave
our members a three month allowance to move their fan art to this new

Woodworks
idea is born, and Georgette Tan starts working on the concept of an Elfwood
focused eZine.

ticket system and the moderator concept is opened for testing.
The
first basic version of the ticket system is programmed by Thomas during
his christmas vacation.

hardware is now in a huge PC server case, running AMD cpu's on 1.5 GB
RAM.

A new server architecture was introduced, where the load of serving all images we're routed to a dedicated and very fast PC server named Ewancient. (2.6Ghz PC) - this significantly increased the response time of all of Elfwood...

Elfwood got a new graphical design/layout, and the Zone47 area was merged into the Lothlorien area, creating a united art area for all kinds of Fantasy/SciFi/Horror art.

New hardware and new domain - we move
all source code, systems, servers, etc to two new powerful PC's;
and at the same time we move it all to use the elfwood.com domain
and host it outside of the university.
Elfwood is transformed from a noncommercial project to a
swedish "AB" company setup to support its future developement and financing.
