 Elfwood Chat guide

The really quick version:
#elfwood @ irc.esper.net
Elfwood has an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel where Elfwood users can chat with each other.
The chat is only affiliated by name and is run by an Elfwood moderator.

Some rules and advice

The Elfwood chat is intended to be a fun and safe place for all members and visitors of Elfwood. The chatters can be young, old or from any country in the world. Therefore, please behave nicely, do not swear excessively and use your best English. That way people will understand you and will want to keep chatting. Abuse, insults and other bad behaviour will not be tolerated.

When you arrive in the chat, tell it to the other chatters by saying hello or asking something. However, remember that not everyone in the chat is online (at the same time). Some people leave the chat on even while sleeping and can appear unresponsive. It's always a good idea to wait for a reply at least a few minutes if not longer.

How to get to the chat?

If you're an IRC veteran, just connect to server irc.esper.net and join channel #elfwood.

If you're not that familiar with IRC, you can use a Java-based applet right in your web browser or an IRC client.

Java applets and other web chats:

Link to and name of applet Short instructions
Espernet's Mibbit applet Type "#elfwood" into the channel text box.
Espernet's old java chat Once the chat is connected, type "/join #elfwood".
Mibbit's web IRC Choose server "Esper" and type channel "#elfwood".

There are many IRC clients you can install on your computer. Here is a list of a few of them:
