We are the Mighty Grebsas, we shall rule an empire
With the thunder of our roaring voice to pass our judgment dire.
With our good swift wings and sharpened claws to enforce our will of iron,
May our wise First prevail!

We go into fierce battle to protect our Veroshi,
With sharp hawk eyes to seek and find our fearsome enemy.
Though he be clever and deceitful, may we victorious be,
For our sweet worshippers!

They are kind and loving with a tune to make us strong.
With good intent they came to us though the journey was long.
By our Agreement with them we will keep their song
Joyful and care free!

How shall we prevail against those who would destroy
All whom we adore and love and all that we enjoy?
Oh, may we be victorious and all their aims annoy
With all our mighty gifts!

Wings to fly swift and true,
Eyes to spot trouble too,
Hearts to keep us ever true,
With these we shall prevail!

Nice chant! It shows well the relation the Grebsas have to the Veroshi, and how they view them. The rhyme scheme and rhythm really gives this the feel of a chant. ^^

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks! There is a bit of a joke behind the rythm on this one. If you're a Christian and you know your hymns pretty well, be sure to look for it."

I like the last verse the best
its nice to read things with a more traditional use of language too
i wasnt aware of a revival
as i dont read much nowadays ..
Must read again as i rather skimmed through it

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks for reading & I'm glad you liked it. I am not entirely sure what you mean by a revival but, if there is one, I'm glad to be part of it. Cheers!"

I like it, seems to be more of a battle cry or encouragement as troops go off into battle. I picture more of a medieval type soldiers with this one.

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Yes, it's meant to be an affirmation of why they fight. I'm glad you like it."

it sounds for me like a battle-hymn... so heroic and full of energy. well it's hard to describe it with words, it gave me just that very special feeling. this feeling I get when being caught by the magic of fantasy...

1 Heidi Hecht replies: "You're warm! *Grin* I meant it to sound like a battle hymn. You can even sing it to the tune of "Battle Hymn of the Republic"...my little joke. Thanks for reading!"

I’d like to hear this sung by a choire and accompanied by a symphonic orchestra. And the melody should be written by... uhm... what about John Williams?^^ However, great lyrics 2

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Your orchestra idea would be really cool! But imagine the expense of hiring one, LOL. I’m glad you like it."

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks for reading and thanks for the compliment."

Neat chant. I sure want them on my side. Thanks for stopping by on my corner of the woods. I thought it would be respectful to do the same to you. Great writing. Keep writing.

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks for stopping by!"

heh heh I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!1111 Sounds like something similar to a game called Fire Emblem........LOL sorry ( i need to stop comparing things to games). your an amazing writer!!!

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks!

P.S. It’s cool that you can compare it to a video game. Some stories just work better when you can relate to them somehow, I think. Funny, I was just thinking my stories would make a good video game."
