SciFi and Fantasy Stories: Veroshi Hymn 2

I think I did a better job with this than with my other Veroshi hymn. Mostly because I based it on one of my favorite hymns. Cyber-cookies for anyone who can guess which one.

You are the great Grebsa, you order all things
To see to our defense, so we live in peace.
We pray to your spirits that you may prevail
In all that you fight for. Our song shall not fail.

Grebsa, God of all mightiness,
You hold all righteousness
On the strength of your wing.
Nothing can ever o'erpower you
In all you seek to do.
To your strength we sing.

We wandered in darkness with a hope and a prayer
That one day we would be your Children of Air.
Our Prophet had promised that we would see Sol
And dance in your splender and hold you in awe.

Grebsa, God of all mightiness,
You hold all righteousness
On the strength of your wing.
Nothing can ever o'erpower you
In all you seek to do.
To your strength we sing.

You came to meet us at the outskirts of Sol
And escorted us into our blessed new home.
You confirmed the Agreement to protect us from harm
And we swore we would serve you with all that we are.

Grebsa, God of all mightiness,
You hold all righteousness
On the strength of your wing.
Nothing can ever o'erpower you
In all you seek to do.
To your strength we sing.

So no cookie for me, 'cause I can't figure out which hymn. When I read it though, all I can hear running around in my head is "God of Wonders". Giggle. But that's not a hymn, really. Anyway, I love the way that you write the Veroshi Hymns. They're so sweet and you do so well. Brava!

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks much, Mandy! I guess I'll give you cookies anyway, because you maintained your dignity and refrained from the legendary First Comments Dance!"

Hmmm...as I read this a tune came to my head, but I can't remember the name of the hymn. And since I can't sing the tune to you...I lose. 2

Anyway, I really like this. I don't know what else to say. I just like it. Lots and lots!

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "I hate it when you get a song in your head but can't think of the name of it! Cheers and be sure to let me know when it hits you!"

No cookies for me either, but it's still a good set of verses.

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks!"

lovely poem
the style is kind of hymy as in days of old

what you based it on ,
theres one that begins
lord of all .... , lord of all ...
and ends sort of
your strength in our hearts lord at the break of the day
~ the metre doesn’t fit your poem throughout though
just some of it .. ah well

grebsa is in your other poems too .. sounds at first like a goddess name
i like veroshi , its a lovely word
no need to explain
i’ll read your stories when my attention span is up a bit

thanks for your message in my guestpage a while ago
i have some poems up now

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Yeah I think I know that one. It’s a favorite around Easter. I was thinking more in terms of "Spirit of Gentless" though. If you know that one. I forget the words but the chorus goes something like, "Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness, Blow through the Wilderness, duh duh duh duh" (I forget the words around the "duh duh duh duh" part.)"

This is a very lovely hymn, perhaps someday when I can actually concentrate I’ll try to sing it, and before you know it people all around the world will be singing this hymn ^_^

:-) Heidi Hecht replies: "Thanks! I just hope I got the rythm right. I based it on that "Spirit of Gentleness" hymn."
