Welcome to my shelf! New people who want to know more about the intricacies of my fascinating life, read on! People who know me, and know what a load of nonsense that bit about my fascinating life is, you might want to just skip down to the update sections ;-)
Well, you're reading this, so I'm assuming you want to know more about...me! I have a relatively new job working for an incredible company called Lifetime Products. I'm officially a "developer" now instead of a technical writer, which means I get paid less but offered more respect. I can live with that.
I have an adorable 8-year-old boy who is soon to become dictator of the world. Or maybe a computer game programmer. (Now that he's older, he's not taking my recommendation of career paths as seriously as I'd hoped. *sigh*) I now live in a house near the Great Salt Lake, and any rain or snow we get is full of salt, which makes the cows and car wash people very happy.
Those are the highlights! *grins* Now, go read! And leave comments. Lots of comments.
Updates on life: I have a new job!!! *happy dance* It is such an improvement over my last job. My coworkers are nice, management *gasp* cares and *double gasp* treats the employees like humans, and best of all, I'm allowed to do my job! I still have some not-so-positive things going in life which may interfere with writing, but things are definitely on the upswing.
Updates on shelf: January 15, 2008 - How terrible! It has been 6 months since I have been able to update. But at last, a new chapter of Following Ragnarok is up. More are on the way, as well as a couple short stories that snuck up on me and demanded I write them.
It's great to be back!
A Quick Summary of my shelf, for those of you who like to know what you're getting yourselves into before you click:
My novels - What happens after the end of the world? At least, if you're a Viking? Following Ragnarok goes into great detail answering this question that has obviously plagued mankind for so long. Fair warning: this was conceived when I was rather grouchy after four failed NaNoWriMo attempts. Thus, it is a bit darker than much of my work.

My short stories - Singing Sunrise for those who ponder the meaning of life, Between Spirit and Dust for those that ponder the meaning of death, and Only at Night for those who would rather not ponder but shiver with fear *mwah ha ha* Fire Moon is a rather random cross between scifi and fantasy. If you like dragons, you can choose between Lounge Lizard (silly) and Snow Moon (very short, with an illustration). Oh, and Equinox. Meh.

As always, please leave lots of feedback on any and all stories. I'm part lizard. See? Thick-skinned. Can't hurt me (unless you're really nasty, at which point I'll dig down into my dragon heritage and burn you to a crisp *heh heh*).
Coming Attractions:
Additional chapters of Following Ragnarok.

A couple random short stories.

Links to people whose work I admire and/or worship:
Alison Guynes (The Ghost Mommy!) - The writer who, through example, convinced me to join Elfwood. If you haven't read her story Twisted Truths, you are missing out on an Elfwood legend :-)

Jim Bowers - The great and powerful wizard of...wait, no...the creator of the Herscher Project! Such a fun idea. Of course, it's unfair that he has cool writing ideas, cool groupies, and talent. But whatcha gonna do? *grin*

Andrea Heny - Wow. That's all I can say. I recommend "The Blue Moth" (a short story) and her novel, "Chronicle of a Monster." If you want examples of how to write dialect or create characters, you need to visit Andrea. I'm suitably jealous ;-)

Sandra Leigh Wagner - I admit it, I'm addicted. I have read nearly everything on her shelf and am waiting impatiently for more updates. Sandra is a published author, and it shows. Be sure to buy her books from Amazon and support a local author made good!

Suzanne Collins - I love a good romance! And when you mix unrequited love with mystery, magic, and murderous villains, you get "Powers That Divide." So go read it already! You know you want to. Guilty pleasures are allowed in Elfwood (as long as they're only rated PG-13 *grins*).

Hannah Ashley - Hannah is writing a vampire/werewolf/etc story that I actually like (*gasp* I know, but it's good). When you visit, read "The Demon's Lodge". The characters are great, and her authorial voice is very strong.

Lindsay Verde - Instructions: click on her link and read "Desert Rose." Then click on her link to me. Then click on my link to her. Then...(*grins* I caught you in a never-ending link circle! Bwah ha ha!).

Ray Arquette - Already notorious in Elfwood for her wonderful prose and sidesplitting characterization, her dragon Fearchar is the cutest thing on the planet (next to my son, of course *grin*).

Jodie Kirk - Out of all the art I've discovered on Elfwood, I keep returning to hers. In her own personal style, she draws beautiful anthros (yes, I like furries!) with so much feeling and personality. My current favorites are the elemental maidens--they're so pretty!

I will be adding others as I seek them out in these enormous woods!

*cooks bacon with disregard for personal nudity* Angela Perry replies: "Heh, gotcha this time, Jeremy! We have a way to track IPs now ;-P You’ve been caught!"
Thanks for helping me with my problems with my elfwood page and all...
I think that was you...*looks around*
Neat stories!!
Happy Elf-Wooding!!
^___^ Angela Perry replies: "You are very welcome! I’m always happy to see new authors in the Woods. Compared to the artists, we’re a bit outnumbered, so we have to stick together!"
ANGEEEEELLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! *GLOMPS* I’m back! I finally finished my 8 long months up at school and am back for the summer. I’m so excited and can’t wait to dive back into writing again ... it’s been so long I feel rusty! But first I had to come and say hello to everyone before I submerge myself in unpacking and organizing to get my room ready for finishing off at least one of my manuscripts!
How have you been? How is the job? Boss still bothering you? Angela Perry replies: "Aww, Liz!!! *ginormous hugs* Wow, I’ve missed you! I’m glad you stopped in for a visit. How is school? Are you having fun?
I got a new (better) job, so the boss menace is gone *grins* I make less money but I’m lots happier, so it’s definitely worth it.
I look forward to reading some new stories from you!"
Squee! I’m very glad to be back. At first I couldn’t seem to motivate myself to write but I’ve been wandering around the woods for a bit, saying hello to everyone and leaving comments and reading stuff and it’s helped me to get my motivation back ... or should I say, my muses! They got quite the extended holiday there! So far I haven’t done anything new in the writing department quite yet. i edited the first part of Roisin again because I’m finally tired of having all of these unfinished mini-pieces up on my page and I wanted to finish off some of them ... but editing the first part was as far as I got last night *sigh* (at the moment I’m uploading artwork to finally put my drawings back up since I want to include characters, maps, etc from my stories so that people have ideas of what things look like ... especially the clothes in Desert Rose. I’ve really got to catch up on my comment prizes ... very behind in that department! I’ve got all except one of them started but it just seems to be the matter of finishing them ... and the fact that I don’t have them completely planned out either .... which kind of explains why it’s hard to finish *giggle*
School was crazy hectic, had an EVIL teacher (epitome of evil) and it was her first time teacher and because of her she failed 1/3rd of our class out of the program! Because you have to get a 60% in all of your classes and on all of your finals in order to pass to the next semester ... and with 14 finals to try and concentrate on, it was kind of a toss up on some of them. But hers were brutal, she’d tell us we didn’t have to know stuff and it would be on the final or she’d trick us. I think I’d better split this comment up before it becomes a novel!
But I just got my marks back for this semester and they’re all above B’s so I’m happy! (and very surprised! I thought for sure I’d failed one of that teacher’s final exams but they must have had to scale it) But I’m definitely interested in the stuff I’m learning and I know for sure that this is the profession I’m meant to be in.
I’m so glad that you got a better job and got rid of that jerk of a boss! Yeah, I’ll be making less money than I make right now after I finish school but I’ll also enjoy that job a lot more ... enjoying your job makes a world of difference.
How has the writing front been for you? Muse keeping you busy? Angela Perry replies: "That’s awesome! I know you were uber stressed, especially with that one teacher. It’s a good sign that you still like your profession after all that ;-)
My writing has been rather indirected the last few months. I have a bunch of stuff to work on, and I can’t decide what to work on, and I end up not working on anything... *sigh* The pirate project at Herscher promises to be fun, though. I can’t wait to read what everyone submits!"

Just saw your name and wondered if you could possible be a lady i knew long long ago, she was a cute preteen then teen singer then i lost track of her and her family, that was in new orleans Angela Perry replies: "Hi John Nope, sadly that wasn’t me. Perry is my married name, and I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. Good luck tracking your friend down, though!"
Ah, I’m having the same problem with my writing too! Grrr! Fickle muses! I’ve got so many stories on the go at the moment, four comment prizes that I really want to finish but I’m having a hard time with the muses ... they just don’t want to stick with one story! It seems like as soon as I get into a bind in one story they decide to leave it and jump to the next story. I’ve got the sixth chapter of Desert Rose and the third chapter of Yshira started but they keep on jumping around on me and leaving them! Grrr!
Ooo, but I see you have a new story up! I’ll definitely have to come and take a look once I get my muses in order and finish off the last two things for this ticket. I don’t know what they’re going to be but I’m determined that one of them is going to be chapter 3 for Yshira ... I’ve got to get at least one new piece on this ticket! Everything else so far is just more editing on old pieces.
Ooo, pirate project! I’ll have to go take a look at the outline for that one again. Maybe it’ll get the muses going! I’ve already got a pirate story that I wrote a long while ago ... two years at least, so maybe I can use the bones of that one and make it new ... since it doesn’t really have any fantasy elements that would put it on elfwood.
[comes dancing through] Miracle of miracles, I have updates of Desert Rose! Whoo! I think it’s finally happened, my muses have finally bucked up and are motivated for DR again! Well, there’s only six chapters left, so they’d better be! I want to get this thing finished so that I can start editing it!
