My entry to the ongoing 'Herscher Project' way back when. This is about a symbolic area in a book I am currently writing, a place of great age and peace.

The Idyll Wonder

It burned as cold glass in quiet sunlight,
Crystals woven like silk threads together-
Cascading curtains, such wondrous sight
Thundering cataracts, always perfect weather.

Cut perfectly at center, walled, golden
Orb delightful, perfectly spiteful
To more than the true daily sun's lovely rays-
A zealous creator who thought himself God

Pulled out from the wreckage which is Nature
A form such as this which glistens as a second
To none, for bowing low in the sky even the sun
Gives homage like no other faithful servant.

The breath of the mists breathe lightly here
Treading in silent homage, crouching reverently
A dance in time so ancient the elders stoop to see.
Wisdom governs the land about it, nothing more.

Pillars-four-decree a jagged mythos
Between north and east, east and south,
South and west, west and north is blessed
By the strengths of four the symbolic few.

White Northeastern, this glimmering mirage
Dances brightly an Angel of six wings between
Scales of peace, prosperity and an arrow
An arrow of defiance of all faithful unseen.

Blue Southeastern, runed deeply in the sides
Filled strongly of stormlike gazes this Dolphin
Stretches to the heavens, mouth outstretched
To catch the wayward raindrops of imperfection.

Red Southwestern, a hunched curve of pillar
Crystal inside a flame seen by mountaintops-
Dragon falls from the dropping firefall toward
Earth, earth to find the roots of its existence.

Green Northwestern, weathered walls crumbling
A divided sentience like none other before millions
Folded-winged Raptor nestles in the cracks securely
Filling fear with awe and finally peace before its glory.

A meeting place, no, a dividing place of perfect season
Autumn, winter, spring or summer makes none a slave
Here, within, without, the consciousness of eternity placed
Within the domed heaven and four dying walls of perfection.

Each pillar is seen from the breaking shores, ebbing water
Of the oceans, reaching across the continent, so far distant.
The Angel envelopes in beauty, the Dolphin spurns the sin,
Dragon invites a deeper course, Raptor stills the soul within-

~Thus is spoken of Wine Cathedral, the Sundome, the Four Singerstones
