Chapter 2

Can you say Alice in Wonderland?

I awoke quickly realizing that I was no longer in my basement where I had been when I fell asleep. I was now looking up into a starry night sky through dead tree branches hanging above me. I felt the cold ground around me. My head was pounding like when you have a hang over. I rubbed my head getting up groaning. I heard a deep snoring, the same sound my dogs made while they slept. I turned my head facing the origin of the sound. Much to my surprise I was looking down on a werewolf. I quickly backed away and got up slowly as not to disturb the beast. I turned my head and saw a stream flowing a few yards away. “This must be a dream,” I thought walking over to the river. When I reached the edge I noticed a quite peculiar thing, the water was not a blue green, but a deep blood red. I could still see my reflection and I made a few more startling discoveries. My hair was now jet-black, and my eyes were red and to top it all off I now had fangs. Not to mention the black armor with blood red trim and the scythe that was now off my back. Still slightly stunned I turned and saw another figure I hadn’t noticed before. Sam or what looked like Sam was asleep on the other side of the were-beast. She was wearing the same armor with a sword with a black blade. I crept over to her and shook her gently. She awoke slightly startled by my presence. I then noticed that her eyes were red just like mine.

“Tim?” she said surprised, “ What are you doing in my…” I could tell very quickly she now noticed she was no longer in her room. “What the …” she began to yell, but I quickly silenced her and pointed at the were-wolf still asleep. I also took her over to the stream to see her reflection in it. She looked down and gasped, but then silenced herself. We looked at each other puzzled, and then the were-beast awoke with a huge yawn.

“Holy crap! It’s awake,” I shouted.

“What’s awake? Where am I?” The were-beast said in an oddly recognizable voice.

“Back,” I said reaching for a nearby rock, “ Don’t move!”

“What are you talking about?” he asked. Following my lead Sam grabbed her weapon preparing to kill the beast if necessary. “Tim? Sam? Is that you?” he asked squinting.

“How do you know our names?” I asked throatily.

“Tim, what the heck have you been smoking?” he asked, “It’s me Andrew.”

“Andrew? As in Andrew Goy?” I asked.

“Yea, Who did you think I was?” he said, “I mean it’s hard to confuse me with anyone else.”

“Andrew, I don’t really know how to say this…” I began, “ But you are a were wolf.”

“That’s impossible,” he said, “They don’t exist.”

“Well,” I said, “ You are. Here follow me.” I led him over to the river and he looked down at his reflection. A moment of silence passed, then another, and another. It took a good five minutes before he returned to real life. “Andrew?” I asked, “Are you ok?”

“I don’t believe this,” he said.

“No it’s real trust me,” Sam said still trying to get over the fact she was a vampire.
“Well maybe we should head east,” I said, “We might find a town or a road or something.”

“Hey Tim?” Sam asked.

“Yes,” I said.

“Do you think the others have come here also?” She asked.

“I don’t know,” I said, “ But if they are here, then they are having trouble too.” So we began to head east, towards the nearly unnoticeable sound of a distant ocean.

Greg awoke along the beach of an ocean, “Weird,” he thought, “I didn’t think I drank that much.” He had a huge pounding in his head. He sat up rubbing his head groaning in pain. He got up and began to walk along the shoreline thinking of where to go next. What he didn’t realize was he wasn’t alone along that beach. He was walking toward the still sleeping Kris. Greg noticed what he thought was a huge beached fish on the shore. He heard his stomach grumble in hunger. “Well,” he thought, “I might as well enjoy a good breakfast.” He began to walk closer to the fish and realized it was not a fish at all, but a mermaid. He was completely confused; he didn’t think that he was that hung over. He was now within a foot of the creature. He bent down and rolled it face up and much to his surprise recognized that it was Kris. She now had fins of course with a bluish top armor and she had a trident next to her with markings on it. “How did this happen?” he thought, “Why was she here?” He looked down at himself and realized he was wearing a bright yellow armor that had a glow to it and had a hammer with a bright yellow head on it. “Wow,” he thought, “That’s what was so heavy on my side.” He was stunned when he finally realized that all of it was real, he kissed Kris lightly on the lips to wake her. She awoke pleasantly surprised by Greg’s presence. She sat up and stretched out feeling like something was out of place.

“Hi Greg, what are you doing here at my house?” she asked still not aware of the changes in her situation, “ Did we..?”

“No, I’m sure we didn’t do that, besides we’re not in your room, we’re on a beach, “Greg said trying not to blurt out that she now had fins.

“How did I get here?” She asked, “Didn’t you take me home?”

“Yes I did,” he said sitting down, “I just found you here, after I woke up further down the beach.”

“Well, I don’t remember drinking last night,” she said rubbing her eyes, “But something feels off.”

“Kris uh, I don’t know how to say this,” Greg said.

“What?” She asked, “What do you have to tell me?”

“Well, Wiggle your toes,” he said.

“I don’t know what…” She said realizing what Greg was trying to say. She screamed out loud, it could be heard all along the beach where Allison was awaking. “What happened to me?” she asked.

“I don’t know,” Greg said, “but I will find out.” Just then Allison came into view jogging toward them.

“Wow,” Allison said stopping in her tracks completely stunned.

“Hey Allison,” Kris said embarrassed.

“What happened to you?” Allison asked.

“Maybe I should ask you the same thing,” Greg said looking at her. She looked down and saw a bow at her side made of gold with many holy symbols on it. She felt on her back and pulled out one of the arrows. It was silver and the feathers were that of a dove.

“That’s weird,” she said, “Why do I have a weapon?”

“Who knows,” Kris said, “We might as well set up camp, a shelter for both of you and a cooking area.”

“I’ll set up the shelter,” Greg said with a bored tone.

“I wonder what happened?” Kris thought, “Are the others here? What caused this?” She pondered this while the other two were busy setting up camp.

Jarred awoke from the chill of a breeze. Eyes still closed he thought, “Did Tim leave the window open, god it’s cold.” He got up and opened his eyes and was startled to be looking at a mountain top view of a large forest expanding for miles. He was in complete shock. He stretched and pinched himself to make sure he was really awake. He then noticed he had feathers instead of hair. He felt behind him and found a set of wings coming out of his back. “Whoa, this is messed up,” he said looking around, “But awesome!” He got up and sat on a large pile of rocks and began to ponder what happened to him and how he got here. He felt a slight tremor under him. He wasn’t startled until the earth moved under him. He jumped up and without realizing it began to fly. The rocks began to take the shape of a large human form. He noticed the sword at his belt glinting in the sun and quickly removed it. “Freeze or I will kill you,” he said.

“What are you talking about?” the creature asked in a slightly familiar voice.

“You heard me!” he yelled confused, “Turn around and face me with your hands up!”

“Ok,” the golem said turning around, “ I don’t know what I did but…” He had stopped when he recognized Jarrett. Jarrett now realized it was Matt and put back his sword.

“Wow sorry,” Jarrett said landing, “I didn’t recognize you.”

“Me neither,” matt said, “This is weird.” Now that matt had moved Jarrett had noticed Megan sitting on the ground with fireballs spinning around her head. She was deep in meditation and completely oblivious to the world. Avoiding the fire he tapped her and said, “Megan wake up.” She awoke startled and confused, it took a few minutes of explanation from Jarrett to understand what they were now. He looked himself over and found the amulet he had picked up was now fused into his armor. “That’s what the script on the back of it meant,” he said having a revelation.

“What do you mean?” Megan asked.

“The inscription on the back it meant that we would be sent here after midnight,” Jarrett said, “ This means all of us at the beach are here now.”

“Well? What do we do now?” Matt asked.

“First thing,” Jarrett said, “Is to get off this cliff, then we go try to find the others.”

“Ok,” Megan said, “One slight problem, how do we get down?”

“Well,” Jarrett said, “Let me try something.” He then jumped into the air and began to flap his wings vigorously. Suddenly he began to rise up in the air in flight.

“Cool,” Matt said.

“Awesome,” Megan said.

“Ok here is the plan,” Jarrett said landing again on the cliff, “I can carry Megan and I fly of course, but matt…”

“What?” Matt said, “Can’t you carry me down too?”

“Well,” Jarrett said thinking, “You are way too heavy for me to carry down, so if I remember right you should jump off the cliff and you will reassemble at the bottom.”

“You want me to do what?” Matt said, “I will die before I reach the bottom.”

“Relax only magic and water can kill a rock golem,” Megan said getting looks of confusion from the others, “ What I have read some anime in my time.”

“That explains it,” Jarrett said, “Now matt when you drop down follow the cliffs back to the beach.”

“Ok,” Matt said, “See you later.”

“I hope he isn’t too stupid to follow my directions,” Jarrett said quietly getting a chuckle from Megan.

Chris awoke in darkness, his head throbbing in pain like a hangover. He began to shake it off and looked around the still spinning surroundings to figure out where the heck he was. He put his hand up to his forehead rubbing it. Suddenly he realized that his hand was covered in scales, blood red scales; He then looked at his nails, which were now black claws. Still in pain and very confused he got up to walk around. He began to walk and felt something dragging behind him. He turned and saw a tail, “Great,” he thought sarcastically to himself, “This is going to be fun.” He then ran into a wall of something cold. He struggled to find a candle or something to create light. He found a large sick and ripped a piece of the cloak he was now wearing and lit it with a match. “Wow,” He said, “Boy Scout skills can be used in real life, cool.” He now got a better look at the object he had run into earlier. It was a large chrysalis of ice. Chris looked at his reflection, now his head was that of a dragon, or something like that. “I have got to be dreaming,” Chris said. Then he noticed a woman inside the ice block; she was dressed in a gown of blue and white with white hair. He tapped the ice saying, “Are you alive?” Suddenly her eyes opened reveling ice blue eyes that were shocked.

“You are you?” She asked after breaking out of her icy exterior.

“Well my name is Chris,” He said.

“Asia,” She said.

“Is this the same Asia Tim hangs out with?”

“Yea.”

“Well it’s me Estes,” Chris said.

“Wow you’ve changed,” Asia said.

“You too,” Chris said.

“Well,” Chris said, “Since you are here than this must mean Tim is too, and all the others.”

“What do we do now?” She asked.

“Well…” Chris began. He spotted two books on a small table. He walked over closely followed by Asia. On the cover of each book it said Spell Book but one had ice and the other had fire on it. They each snatched up the copy that belonged to them. They both began to speed read to learn spells.

“Whoa,” Asia said excitedly, “Look at all of these spells from Abolish to everything.”

“No really,” Chris said sarcastically, “I thought they were our text books.”

“You don’t have to snippy with me,” Asia said

“Well,” Chris said, “It is sad that I am stuck here with a complete moron, trying to help me get back home or at least find the others.”

“You…” Asia said in fury, “Take this spell. Fro ki dice.” Just then a large block of ice appeared out of nowhere hurling toward Chris.

“Oh yea,” he then chanted a spell, “Dek de shelle.” With that a wall of fire appeared in front of him and it melted the ice block.

Just then someone called out in the darker part of the cavern, “What’s with all the noise?”  Both of the two were surprised and stopped fighting in order to investigate the new voice. Chris looked in his spell book and said, “Dek de fin flam.” A small flame came out of his finer tip and he led the way towards the voice. “Hello?” He called out.

“Hello?” the voice yelled back in confusion and crankiness.

“Keep talking,” Asia said, “We will find you by your voice.”

“Ok,” It returned sounding closer, “Where am I?”

“In a cave of some kind,” Chris said.

“Chris is that you?” The voice, now decidedly female yelled very close.

“Yea, “Chris said, “It’s me.” Just then he saw the humanoid form in the darkness and chanted another spell, “ Dek de pall ball.” His finger flame now floated over to his palm and grew brighter revealing an Amazon. She screamed in terror at the sight of Chris.

“Calm down,” Asia said, “He is Chris, trust me.”

“Ok,” Chris said, “Who are you?”

“Are you blind it’s me Natalie,” She said.

“Whoa,” Asia said, “I’m glad I’m not wearing that.” She had spoken the truth. Natalie not really awake yet had not noticed the attire she now wore, she had a Leather bra on, a leather pair of very short shorts, and a pair of knee high boots all of this was brown. Not what she would really want to wear out in public. Not as shocking she had a long bow with a large quiver full of redwood and hawk feathered arrows. Natalie finally realized what she was wearing and tried to cover herself without much luck.

“Here,” Said Chris taking off the cape he wore, “Try this.”

“Thanks,” She said snatching it up. “Now that we got that taken care of where to next?”

“Well,” Chris said, “Lets try to find a way out of here.”

“Ok,” Asia said, “Now which way is out?”

He then noticed a small plant up ahead. “It take sun to have a plant,” Chris said so it’s that way.”

“Cool,” Natalie said now wearing the cape as a toga, “Lets go.” Off they went towards the cave exit hoping not to be the only ones stuck here.
