SciFi and Fantasy Stories: The Blessed Kiss on Winter

Well the frigid winter is on its way. This is a piece of poetry written as a tribute to the season. The illustration shows the spirit of winter about to draw the warmth out of a young elf with a kiss.

	In the night I whisper softly The words of which I chose Sound beyond all hearing Though deeper still it grows Still I wait here listning The voice that does not speak I hear the words of silence So loud and yet so meek I call upon you gently Bitter words of which you know Bitter songs of summer winds Now chilled beneath the snow The blessed kiss of winter Whose heart's already froze The waters of the river The summer's dying rose © Christina Stoppa 2004

22 Mar 2008	Désirée Ruth Dippenaar	Loading... Beautiful, both the poem and the illustration! I like the imagery, and the melancholy and nostalgic tone. I agree that the last stanza is the best - though the whole poem is excellent! It has a kind of riddle-ish feeling to it almost, at some points. Really good~
