Waaaah... I have no time to write!! (and neither do you apparently) Don’t you miss the good old days when we both updated somewhat regularly?? Anyway, how have things been going with you, it’s been a long time!!

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "Hey, Brendon! Great to see you again! 1 Yeah, it was nice when we were both reading each other’s novels, wasn’t it... *sigh* Maybe if you start writing Zabole again, I’ll be inspired to start writing FW again... Although I know how hard it is to write when you don’t feel like it...

Yeah, things are good with me. ^^ "

Okay, while I’m not really sure I want to know, I have to ask.

On windows, when you want to find a file and you do the search thingy for it, searching the entire system, how long does it generally take to search everything?

Er... I tried it and it took about 3 minutes to search my system... My HD is a bit over three quarters full...

Much more than a few seconds? (assuming the file system isn’t incredibly large, I mean) And does windows create a database periodically of all pathnames or filenames or whatever so as to find stuff faster, and if so, does it slow things down majorly while its doing that?

Isn’t that called the File Allocation Table? I don’t reckon it would slow things down, being the point of it is to speed things up, but who knows. I’m definitely no expert.

Its just suddenly occuring to me that my OS might actually be really efficient, and the only reason why this computer still seems decent is just that... considering, its actually a quite old machine.

And why the hell does a windows machine slow down over time? Its still got the same amount of RAM and all that, right? And last I checked, Windows doesn’t even *use* SWAP memory... so drive fullness wouldn’t really matter... would it?

I dunno. The invisible demonic yak gets tired, probably...

Wait, why am I asking you that? You wouldn’t know any more than I would, would you?

Not really, no. I vaguely remember bits and pieces of stuff that I learnt in various computer classes over the years, but not enough to know what I’m talking about or be particularly helpful...

*pats Indy* He’s Mr. Computer, ask him. 12

Ahem.

I wanna see the sketch! Show me! Show me!
I showed you the scribbly angler on top of the truck being attacked by blobs, now you show me your attempts! Seriously, I doubt it can be much worse. o_O

*mutters something incomprehensible under her breath*

Aww, fudge. >.<; The anatomy is all borked up though! *long, drawn out and painful sigh* Ohhhh, fine then. Maybe. I might send it to you. Maybe. Just warning you in advance that it sucks.

At least the scribbly angler was actually cool...

Er... right. Try to influence them with good grammar... how am I supposed to do that? I type slowly in general, and when I play GW, its generally on a laptop, so I type even more slowly than usual because the keyboard is all squished and small. Typing fast is all important to them, see.

More important than being comprehensible? Yes, that makes perfect sense. o_O

Now, if I had backup in this endeavor...

1 I’ll try and get Guild Wars, I will... (when I have some money, that is...)

Ah yes, the mockeries of lethal that we have become. Lovely, ain’t it? At least my cat is still considered lethal... that’s something, right?

...right?

Actually, that just sort of makes it worse.

Yes. To be outdone by a cat. The shame. ;_;

*throws several alphabets at Indan*

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "*is amused*"

A Windows search is basically a "find / -name blub" (takes 1 minute here), not a "locate blub" (half a second). There isn’t a reason why locate wouldn’t work on Windows, it’s just that they don’t have it. If you want updatedb to be less bothersome use mlocate instead of slocate.

Windows swaps like hell, but it uses a swap file, which fragments over time, slowing it even more down. Other reasons it slows down over time are that its file system fragments files easily (FAT being much worse than NTFS), its registers gets cluttered with all kind of crap, spyware and sometimes viruses get installed, that kind of mess. If you want to bring it to its knees and let it crawl then install some kind of anti-virus software. You probably need to reboot regularly to flush it up too. I’m glad I’ve moved on to Linux and can avoid Windows altogether, and I don’t play games any more, so don’t miss any Windows-only games that don’t work with Wine either.

Bet Kim is regretting asking, now...

*looks flustered*

What in goodness name am I going to do with several alphabets?!

Are it all Latin alphabets, or is there something Cyrillic or Arabic thrown in the bunch too? And if so: Why?

But if words are sharper than swords, surely letters are sharper than daggers...

Pictures are worth a thousand words, so they must be pretty deadly. ^^

*throws an oil painting at Kim*

And you just threw more than fifty at me...

Crap.

*runs for his life*

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "*hugs you, so that the lethal letters hit her instead*

Don’t worry, I have multiple lives... I think... urk..."
4 Jul 2008:-) Ano Nymous
I’m pretty sure your country signed some international convention to not use mass destruction weapons, including oil paintings. The part of the world where Kim lived is probably gone now. Except if you’ve crappy aim, in which case it’s some other part. Whatever may be the case, you have ruined a perfectly fine oil painting, and for what? World war three? Tsk, tsk.

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "Maybe my country signed a convention, but I never did. 1

Don’t worry, it probably landed in the middle of the ocean. On a Japanese whaling vessel. *cough*

Well, someone had to start WW3. It’s long overdue. ^^"

Oh, did you ever get around to drawing you and Indan using each other as meatshields or something?

Say what? o_O I don’t recall agreeing to draw that... *suspicious*

Are you ever going to draw me?

Errr... *shifty eyes*

It’s not an impossibility... ^^;

Are you ever going to do any art, ever again? O_O?

I do tons of art; I do it every week, but none of it’s Elfwoody, and most of it is just class exercises and should never be seen by anyone with eyes...

You know, as good as you are at causing death and destruction and all that, and considering how much time I spend on your page, its ironic that most of my deaths are actually caused by my own incompetence. Then again, most of yours are caused by yours, in turn, aren’t they? Or by Indan. He seems to give an extra circumstance penalty to our violence being effective, especially yours... so I must now propose the ultimate solution.

Yes, quite. ^^

I pie him.

*throws a pie at him; it misses epically, going in completely in the wrong direction...*

Damn it, why’d I have to roll a natural 1 on my throw check *now* of all times?

*...and hits the Most Important Thing In The Universe, destroying it utterly in a spew of antiprotons and lemmings, causing the very fabric of spacetime to unravel*

Ah, crap. *gets hit in the face by a flying orange sofa*

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "Well, I hope no one misses the Most Important Thing In The Universe, as it’s rather buggered, now... o_O

But someone getting hit in the face with a sofa makes it all worthwhile. ^^"
6 Jul 2008:-) Kim Schoonover (FreeBSD/i386 [moose] [ttyv5])
Oh, yeah, Indan, you know what? Megan was right about regretting of asking... I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about with all the compy-talk. ^^ Well, almost no idea. What I could comprehend actually does help, though. o_O

So I suppose in response to all that, all I can really say is... huh. o_o

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "That makes two of us. o_O"
7 Jul 2008:-) Ano Nymous
Drat. Well, it wasn’t important anyway. ^^

I would have liked a pie though... Aim better next time? Now someone... *looks at Megan* ...has to deal with the big mess you created. The lemmings mostly. We can ignore the unravelled spacetime thingy, the antiprotons just hug the protons and the flying orange sofa is actually quite comfy.

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "Oh great. People come in and make a mess and destroy the universe and I have to clean it up? Charming. -_-

*summons a terrifying chasm, which the lemmings head to automatically and throw themselves happily in*

*stabs Kim with a spoon of doom*

*knits a rug out of the unravelled space time and uses it to keep warm*"
10 Jul 2008:-) Kim Schoonover (FreeBSD/i386 [moose] [ttyv5])
*reciprocates with a spork of doom*

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "*reciprocates with a spatula*

Do you like my sparklies? ^^ *points to name*"
12 Jul 2008:-) Kim Schoonover (FreeBSD/i386 [moose] [ttyv5])
Sparklies? Where? I don’t see any... o_O

*clobbers ye with a meter-long fork*

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "The ones around my name in comments ’n stuff. The ones befitting my supreme most lethal moderator status. *grabs a handful of the sparklies and flings them at you like shurikens*"
23 Jul 2008:-) Kim Schoonover (Darth Maul´s scary sister)
Really? But you leave comments so rarely that I wouldn’t see them.

>.< Oh well, that’s a point I suppose. *cough* But they’re in all of my replies, so it’s no excuse.

Or are they supposed to be here it say’s ’Megan ’Angler’ Proverbs replies’...? I don’t see nothin’, sorry.

Yes, there! All the mods and people who’ve donated have them. ^^

*is, subsequently, immune to the shuriken-sparklies due to an utter lack of perception*

:-) Megan 'Angler' Proverbs replies: "Foo. Never mind then. *mutters at the waste of good shuriken-sparklies*"
