A celebration poem/song/prayer, which ever you would like to call it, for the holiday of Beltaine (also known as May Day).

In the deep forests where

faeries fly and pagans dance

around yonder bon fire prance

below the waning moon.

Drums of flame and strings of air

'tis what our blessed fingers play

on into the eternal of an oncoming day

below a hidden sun.

Grand Muse! Weave for us your natural song

the one of your birth and your neverending life!

Our lady who feeds us from thine own hands

who frees us from burden and helps us through strife.

Blessed be O Ceredwen! My Mother Earth and Lady Moon.

Thee whom which I owe my life

and chant forward thy Witches Rune!

Cresant beauty, celestial tempest

Seducing being of milky light

Beltaine dreams fill the minds

The month of May brings lullybies

Savents cure and Alchemists change

while bards narrate the grand and strange

A burst of scorching cinders explode

light filtering through the darkened abode

thumps of impish music plays

to celebrate the end of winter days.

28 Aug 2001	Baz 'Jinx' Dwornik	Loading... Love the imagery in this poem, and coupled with the rhyming pattern and fantasy creatures makes it very classic sounding.
14 Mar 2002	Kristen 'Blue Sushi' Pitts	Loading... Wow. I like that a LOT. Sounds very much like you read Mists of Avalon (I'm in the middle of it right now). But anyway, I do really really really love this. It's very different from my own style of poetry (I don't have enough fantasy poetry to put up on here though). You have a striking play on words as well. Please write more poems like this one, and let me know when you do.
