SciFi and Fantasy Art: Smaug in His Youth

This is my first drawing of a dragon. And one of my favourit drawings. I started on it during a math-lesson. At first i didnt know what to call it, but i decided to call it 'Smaug in His Youth'. Maybe this is how Smaug looked like before he got his stomach coverd whit jewels.

Beautiful Dragon here, Philip! I love the detail in his hide. Was this done completely from your imagination? I lack that ability, to put so much detail into something without a picture referance. It's very lovely, and of course, I love Smaug. I just finished reading "The Hobbit" for the second time, since it had been so long since I'd read it.
Is this all pencil drawn? Very nice lines, and good contrast!

I like this one. Dragons I consider relatively hard to draw, so I'm usually impressed with them... but your youthful Smaug is impressive. (I also really like the idea of this being him before he's covered by diamonds.)

wow, for your first dragon its amazing and the details are outstanding. The pose is good and its true that dragons to tend to be difficult to draw and I aswell am always inpressed when i see one as good as this. Good job

First dragon? That's incredible! This is possibly the best picture of Smaug in Elfwood. I don't have any criticism, and that's saying something, since I'm hypercritical.

THAT IS YOUR FIRST DRAGON? Holy mother of all craps! I do say....my first dragon was the stinkiest dragon on the face of the earth. Philip, buddy, YOU get skill!

I like the amount of contrast between black and white in your picture, it makes it look very much alive. His posture and look of the face i also great. Perhaps the wings should have a little more detail and the tail shouldn't be that fat? Just a matter of personal opinion I guess. I really like this picture though!

, "I must get to my cave, before they find me". It’s been 5 years since the dragons of Dlacohin
The place he was born. Smaug makes it to his cave before humans found him, "Now that I’m here if they come they are in my domain, so I’ll have the advantage. They did enter the cave with there sword and crossbows, "You better be a good shoot human. or you trap yourselves in here with me. Trust me I know what I’m doing". The human lite it on fire, then fired it. Smaug knocked it back at them with his tail. The infact trapped them selves in with him
, "What happen? I thought you knew what you were doing". Smaug finished them off with a fireous breath of heat, "Stupid humans. He busted out of his cave reopening it. To be continued.

I can’t believe this was your first dragon O.o I mean it’s amazing! He looks like you had been drawing dragons for years... I think it’s defintely safe to say you have a natural talent for drawing dragons... incredible job!
