SciFi and Fantasy Art: Arys Ryken

OLD! God, this dude is just begging for a makeover. I created Arys for a sci-fi story in my 7th grade English class. I think this was drawn sometime between 8th and 9th. Fairly old, but still cool. 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil and a smidgen o' your basic Bic pen.

Istanbul, not Constantinople, now it's Istan--whoops. tankis for da nice comments, people. As to proprtions bein elongated on Arys here...well, he ain't human. Traditional Proprtions don't mean much here. But Liz is right over on my Merlin pic. his legs are allll screwed up.

I like it. You have your own style, you should try to develope it more! If you wish to pursue a comics job, you will need to practice up on the anatomy. The Basics last you a lifetime.

I don't mind the elongation, I think it works here. Actually, I think I like his um, left foot the most. Other than that, SHADING! If you even used a black marker, the whole thing would just pop out nicely. You can still do it, y'know. Other than that, anatomy studies would help. Don't be afraid to stare at people, or just watch action movies with a remote control with your finger on pause button and a sketch book. It really helps.

I promice this guy is a X-Men member. Two things are strange on my first sight. The left leg is # inches longer then the right leg. And why does he have a coke can betveen the legs. Is he a robot or what?. Or did he lost his 'MANKIND' (da c¤¤k) somewhere in VIETNAM so he most have a mekanikal pinking thingie?

On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give this a:1_ sorry my zero doesnt work

[looks at the comment above] Though apparently the zero worked just fine when you typed '10' the first time, how curious...

Anyhow, now I've a look at one of the infamaous 'OLD!' pieces. I see some definite improvement. All in all though you have a nice angular style developing, strong motion lines. Good work. 2
