SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hera, Queen of the Gods

This is something new for me: I worked from a description out of a mythology book. '...she grew fairer then all women, and taller than all men on earth; and her garments shone like the summer sea, and her jewels like the stars of heaven; ...and she looked down on him, with great soft heifer's eyes...great eyes..mild and awful...And she spoke--'I am the Queen of Olympus, Hera the wife of Zeus.'' What do you think? I used my new poseable Mannequin (I'm thinking of carving 'Little Wooden Boy' in the base!) for the proportions, Fractal Painter for the outline and Photoshop for the coloring. I really wanted to use Painter for the whole thing, but the stupid thing died on me. :( So.. Enjoy, and comment please!

I really don't understand why people keep saying 'this is not what Hera looks/looked like', or 'she needs to look different'. How do you know? Like Katie said, it's open to everyone's individual interpretation, there isn't a right or wrong way. As for the lack of peacocks, I actually find it quite refeshing. Yes, peacocks were her symbolic bird, but that doesn't mean that every picture of her has to include one. I will admit it isn't how *I* would imagine her, but this is one of the reasons I like coming to places like this, to see other people's ideas on how such figures might have looked.
