SciFi and Fantasy Art: In Progress - MerGal

I love this woman. Love her. The pose was inspired by an image I found while stumbling around Elfwood. I had the pose stuck in my head all day and finally I doodled it during class that evening.

She came out so nicely I finally took her home and scanned her in - and used her as the base for this. I just brought it into Painter and started painting. I love the idea of naiads, and I think that's what she is.

This is why I love my Wacom tablet. Without it, this wouldn't have been possible - not just on the computer, but at all. Because I moved her head twice and I tried a tail, without ever destroying what I had due to layers. And I'm really really proud of the face and the hand.

So anyway, this is still in progress. I want your input. I need to make her hair slightly bigger above her left eye (a casualty of moving the head) and darken up some shadows; anything else? I want this to be my best pic yet!

Dec 13: I followed some suggestions and I think she's fabulouser! Whatcha think?

I agree with what Eliza said. This picture seems just a tad too dark for me! My eyes have to work too hard to see the figure. But the pose is lovely and you've got some great colors going on! Wonderful pic!

WOW, that IS awesome(even more than before) I agree that the highlights did the trick for sure, I can see the lovely skin texture much more this way and it really brings the girl forward from the background, now ahe's such a good focus! You rock(yet again) Gayle! Stunning! ^_^

That's a pretty nifty pic... you did good! I do like the texture/coloring on her skin. Something's funny about her left arm... maybe the shadows aren't quite right/deep enough... it looks like her left arm's in a weird twisted position...her arm's at a sharp angle so it'd have more/deeper shadow? Could just be me though. Dunno. Great pose, otherwise. 2

Gayle, this is most beautiful. The color combinations are so visually aesthetic. Her hair and face are gorgeous. The webbed feet were a surprise. Good stuff. You should be happy. 2

hi gayle.Hey I'm no elfwood artist but I do really love to draw and look at drawings and painting etc. of fantasy,Anime & RPG charectars and i have to say that I think this work turned out great. I know you said no more wow messages or whatever but I just have to cangradulate you on this one. I dont want you to take my advice and screw it up but her webbed feet might look a little better with a little more detail2

Can you come up with a different background? This one justs looks so plain. Perhaps something with water.
