SciFi and Fantasy Art: Struggle of a New Born

I guess its about time for me to put up a new picture... =) In my opinion this one is probably one of the best I ever done (I guess I can keep saying that with every new picture I draw, since I'm getting better and better, even if its slightly better) Anyway this picture took alot of my time. The picture may look quite different from my others(if you can tell)... it has more contrast than most of my pictures... it took a long long time to use all that graphite for that black background. The background is actually lighter than that, but I used photoshop to make it more darker. Graphite(pencil) could only go so dark. I would lover real critiques, even if you are going to bash it with reason of course, saying it sucks with out any reason doesnt help me improve at all... Some of the things you can critique are use of value, contrast, draftsmanship, composition, mood/feeling, there are other stuff I cant seem to think off the top of my head.
