SciFi and Fantasy Art: Sonya (version 2)

You asked for it, so here it is - Sonya the barbarian swordswoman redone! Black ink on cheap paper, Weird Tales -style. (I'm really beginning to luuuuve that cheap paper!) In case you're familiar with RuneQuest and Glorantha, here's some background. She's standing on the ramparts of Whitewall, the last barbarian stronghold standing against the tide of civilization (see the irony in there?), giving a... uh... speech to the Lunar invaders camping outside the gates. The red moon of the chaotic Red Goddes, the supreme deity of the Lunar Empire, is up on the sky, but the great wind that blows her hair is a message from the barbarian sky god Orlanth - there will be a huge battle, and many a friend will die, but before the nightfall tomorrow the long siege of Whitewall will finally have ended!

Excellent shadow of the woman Sonya! I really like it. My only suggestion is for more detail. It would be cool to see the cracks and chinks in the stone wall, and to see more detail in the night sky. Maybe even see who Sonya is threatening with that big sword! And, of course, I'd love to see this in color, but that's just my own personal preference! Great pic!

Great silhouette, but I think it would be better if the line between her and the wall wasn't there. You're right about that line... one of these days, I'll have to do something with this pic.---OK, I've done that something with it now... comments, anyone?

The silhouette is great, love the small bits of hightlight. Excellent ^_^

Wonderful sense of movement in this picture. I especially like the way that her hair is blowing like that - and those ribbons. I'll have to echo Amber's request for more detail in the stone wall -it would make the picture just that little bit better. Great job on those highlights on Sonya herself.

Hello! I like this new version, well, I liked also the previous one as about the line, but this is more finished. The very only thing I'm not convinced of is the contour of the battlements, there is no perspective in them and this makes them look like cardboard.

I can also easily picture this figure in a modern setting, much like Witchblade.

I can feel peace and harmony in this picture.. THIS IS GOOD, but if i had made this.. the moon might be almost in swords handle.. the moons edge inline with hands. Then fire meets the water 2

Funny... but I get feeling like time has stopped in this picture. No movements no sound just chi??? ... Or am I just childish?

Wow, the simplicity makes it interesting. I like this one. You complex things with the moon/sun. Just a whit screen and a black circle. Perfect!!!!!
