SciFi and Fantasy Art: On the journey to the capital.

This came from a story I once read about a Byzantine noblewoman.... Its probably the moment where she desides to exchange the magic of the slave for the magic of the free. It's too long to put it all in here and I'm not sure I got the costume right anyway.

Beautifully drawn. I want to know more about her story!

*smiles* I wonder if I would recognize the tale? If she's an Orthodox saint, then it's likely I've heard it before.
Um... maybe *grins*

Oooh, this is nice... I would love to know the story behind it. Her headress is very nice; I like the dangleys and the transparent fabric. I am glad that you kept this as a sketch. Thanks, sketches do have a more 'raw' quality about them and this picture is likely to stay this way. 2

This reminds me of a story I know about a girl who gets martyred for being a Baha'i' (a religion) who lived in the Middle-east... it was really sad, it made me cry! It looks so much like her, I instantly like it.

I don't think I ever read this story, but I'm glad you like the picture.

I love how much expression you put on her face with just a few pen-strokes! She looks very shy and innocent, but I think there's a little coyness in there at the same time. If I may ask, what was the title of the story; I'd like to look it up if it's available anywhere near me? Erm.. *looks embarrassed* Sorry, its been a while since I drew this and I'm afraid I don't remember off the top of my head. And it is a bit.... specific to be easily looked up in a normal way, I think. Thanks for commenting! 2

Oh! I know that book! I read it too, I don;t remember the title exactly, it was a great book. Gorgeous picture!!! Awsome!! Um... when I read it it was only one part in a collection... so you may not be talking about the same story.

Very nice picture! The clothing is beautifully done, and the pose seems natural while still being nicely medieval - she could be a real woman as well as a manuscript illustration. Very good! 1

I read one called Anna of Byzantium, was that the title?
This is gorgeous too by the way. Thanks! I'm afraid not, I think. This is not really a novel illustration and isn't to do with any story written in recent years.

Wonderfully drawn! I love the headpiece and the entire outfit. I think I will just stare awhile...

~stridge~Thanks, I know the costume looks elabrate, but I wish I was also sure it is historically correct. X)

She has a very sweet face. I like her! Thanks! Yup, she's not altogether unpretty. ^^
