SciFi and Fantasy Art: OniamiOniami is a character in a comic I'll probably never get done, based on the concept of 'names are power'. It's actually urban fantasy, but you can't see that in the pic (that collar could be a trenchcoat, or then again, it could be a cape) so I figure she's safe here. For the time being, this character design is about all I've got between a few names and tidbits about magic in this theoretical world... so I'll leave you to ponder the rest. And please, *please*, if you have the first or last name Oniami and/or you can tell me anything about it (as in, origin, meaning, etc.), mail me, because I just can't find it (in English) anywhere else. I'll be your friend forever. Really.
| | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 15 Nov 2001 | Kelly Diane Gorman | "Welcome To Miami" Heh, you where right, I hadn't seen this one, but it's tres cool! I like the way you shade things, and I must say your people drawing has gotten much better! Sandra Annett replies: "Heh, you can say that, because you've seen my hideous attempts at people drawing since those ones in grade 6 on our desk... eeeuughh... ^_^;" | |
| 22 Nov 2001 | Velocity Kid | it reminds me of something old... Very Clasical Anime look her nose, those eyes... and even her mouth but its that hair... The hair reminds me of something from the olden days. Where did you dream up that hair from? Sandra Annett replies: "Heh, actually that's my hair, only with more bangs. I drew it when I had longer hair, and the next time I got it cut, I came home, opened my binder and realized: "Oh my God, now I look like Oniami." It just grew (ha ha) from there! " | |
| 12 Dec 2001 | Paula | Hmmm...hmmm... Yesss, Oniami. I don't Know (mmmm, the 'K' word...), but I have the opinion that... some of your other pics of her are better than this one... not that I mind this one, it's quite nice, really; but it's not terribly involved (Heh! Stop clawing the new footstool, Friskey!)...what I mean to say is... some of your full-body drawings have more...attitude/style/something...this particular pic is just very straightforward...that's not necessairly a criticism though...just an observation... Sandra Annett replies: "And I thank you for your honesty! It really doesn't have the *personality* of the few comic pages and poses I've done, but none of them are even remotely fantasy-ish, and I liked the shading here. So there ya go." | |
| 3 Jan 2002 | Velocity Kid | Yeah it's Very Formal. I think thats what I like about it though like she going to do some very serious bizzness~ such as Hunting down a Certain Vampire Duck~ But yeah I'd Like to see this Character in Action... Would be Interesting to see what the rest of her body is doing.
Kinda looks like she might be Walking Somewhere to me... Has that side Pro~file look thing.
