Hello, and welcome to my gallery! I'm Sandy Annett, your run-of-the-mill 23 year old female Canadian geek of the otaku variety. Favorite anime include Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Azumanga Daioh, Haibane Renmei and assorted Miyazaki movies, and for manga, Fushigi Yuugi, Demon Diary and Alichino. Of course, I also like Western sf/fantasy, the top three authors being Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett and H.P Lovecraft, and odd stuff like Labyrinth and Tim Burton films for movies. I'm also a recovering workaholic. I recieved my BA and MA in English, nearly stopped drawing entirely in the last two years, and am now just starting to get back into it, having finally decided to take a year off school and recover. I last updated this site in 2002, so most of the stuff on here now is oooold...but then, some people have told me they still enjoy it, so I won't be taking anything down, just putting stuff up! Hope you enjoy it. Oh, and if anyone is interested, I might be doing commissions soon -details on that to come.

This is wicked anime art. I really like the bright colours and simple, yet effective style. Keep on drawing, I'd love to see more! By the way, Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop rock! 1

I find your drawings so inspiring and they are very unique I must say I especially like the one with the rainbow queen it's just lovely. I love drawing things like that but i can never get it the way I want. So if you wouldn't mind could you send me some tips on anything related or sites you have seen or things that inspire you, it would mean a lot and I also think that you should have a little section where you tell how you got a certain look ion a picture it would help a lot of people out. Well, I thank you for taking time to read this, and if you don't reply it is al-right. Your pictures are really amazing. They you can say are one in a million. 2

:-) Sandra Annett replies: "Thank you very much! Truth be told, the thing that really inspires me right now is japanese anime and manga, expecially Yu Watase's manga Fushigi Yuugi. That's some good art, man! I generally 'learned' to draw by looking at pictures and drawing what I saw (Disney and Sailor Moon when I was a kid, manga now, etc). It doesn't take long before you can do original pieces in the same style, and then incorporate different styles and your own preferences to make something all your own! So 'copying' is not a bad thing as a learning tool. Just watch that you don't get trapped in someone else's style: keep it original! Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try to say a little more about technique when I post more pictures. When will that be? I don't know...*very, very busy!*"
