This story is actually a lead up to another I'm working on. It's about Rachel later in life, but for now she's eight/nine. Um, the story moves a little more slowly than most that I would write since the fast ones get people confused. You critical people, this is your chance to shine (just remember that this is only chapters 1-4). Go to it!
Reborn realises he is being used, and tries to escape by force.
The story comes to a bittersweet end. (Warning! This contains some swearing and above-average amounts of strong violence.)
The time to take action is close at hand...

It’s a hi-tech future and a big disaster happens, exposing numerous individuals (though a small percentage of the population) to a chemical that alters brain function to a degree that they attain supernatural powers. When these powers become apparent, those who possess them are branded as witches, and a fear of them spreads throughout society like wildfire. Dawn is a young high school student whose liberal views regarding the witches are bound to get her in trouble. Little does she know that she will soon be an exile in her own land, hiding out when she’s not on the run. But she is not alone…

The first part in a three-part story, about a future where our minds are scanned for criminal intent, or social disent, and the unwilling narrator who is forced into the battle.
I wasn't going to post this here... but I don't think it's ever going to be at risk of getting published. Not that I don't like it - Saraida is one of my earliest attempts at constructing a genuinely human character, and I still like her. I simply have too many other projects that absorb all my interest and writing time to allow Saraida to tell her tale. Thus, she's free to tell what there is of her tale here. By now this is about three or four years old, and I'm a little proud of it because little else I wrote back then reads as smoothly as this does... then again, this ain't exactly prize-winnin' material. But enjoy (I hope)!
Incomplete as of yet.
In a galaxy plagued by chaotic political disagreements they thrive. Debates about the ownership of the Thaline Quarter has led to minor skirmishes between Quentaan Rebels and the Terran Naval Defence Corporation. The skirmishes take place on a regular basis, the actions of the rebels are condemned by the Quentaan government, however they take no action to stop them. Using the chaos the skirmishes and debates cause as a smoke screen the Space Pirates bootleg the valuable Thaline Gas, stealing huge quantities and selling them for a high price on the Black Market. But for the infamous Space Pirate crew known as the Blood Wraiths, their simple (but dangerous) lives shall be changed forever with a discovery that changes not only their lives, but the whole galaxy. Join Rick Stallard and the Blood Wraiths aboard the Devil Star and witness the beginning of the unfolding saga.
