Tears of the Holly

this is the result of a celtic calendar challenge from the illustrious Jenna Morgan . Enjoy a legend of the Holly. 'Come, traveller, step softly on the road. The green hills rise around you, grey in the gathering twilight. Can you hear the music in the mist, the fiddles and the flute? Tarry not on the highway. Turn your eyes away from those pale dancers by the water's edge, with their green silk ribbons. For if they catch you in their coils, 'twill be a year and day before you come home again. And only then if you pay their price... ...for your freedom, a tale....' Sit back, and hear the legend of the Holly Tree and the father of Vampires. p.s. This is officialy my first Mod's Choice. I was amazed, but am happy to finally have a golden feather of my very own!

Hunters Cry

Julie Becker

A poem..There are sometimes very good reasons for why a few people feel like they don't really fit in anywhere..(Note: I'm not really pleased with this poem..in fact..I'm hardly ever pleased with anything I write. Maybe when I am..then I'll have something really good.)

Se Hunt For Dead Barbat

E Purington

The Hunt For Dead Man This is an UPDATED version of what was here before. It is quite different in some places, with an added 'ending'. The story began as a writing exercise. My intention was to use and abuse so many clichés that the entire thing would either become one giant cliché or something so vaguely unoriginal that it passed obscurely into originality. I took the clichés and added my own twist to them. Nothing is as it seems, nor as it 'should' be according to longstanding cliché 'traditions'. Yes, it started out as a Silly Thing, but I am now actually quite proud of it. I don't know if there will be more. I hope so, but it isn't likely. All comments and criticism welcome, as long as it is constructive. Tell me what you like or dislike. Tell me why. If I don't know, I can't make it better. Translations Hann Hver Ganga Fleiri Hár En Hann Er is Icelandic. It's what he's called and thus very hard to translate. It is basically: 'He who walks taller than he is' ...but I don't speak Icelandic, so apologies if it's wrong... Lýðveldið Ísland is 'Iceland' meu dragă is Romanian for 'my dear' fată is Romanian for 'girl(s)' (Updated Version...again again. Hopefully THIS TIME I've got all the bad formatting and chewed up smart-things sorted out...)

Hunter is Hunted

H. Peirce

They vampire slayer finds herself put under the spell of the vampire, and she finds she is the hunted one.

The Hermit

Jess Hyslop

Ooh, is this a companion piece to 'The Hunter', you ask?? Well, I wouldn't want to disappoint you... so yes, yes it is!! In fact, it is almost more the Hunter's story than the Hermit's... Although I am sorry to say that I don't consider it quite as original as 'The Hunter' itself; it's a little more *generic*, you could say. Which is a shame - maybe I will re-work it at some point. BUT it does give big big clues as to WHAT the Hunter is, if not WHO. I was going to reveal his name at the end, but when I wrote it in it seemed a really cliched and horrible way to end it, so I didn't... Hehehe sorry!By the way, as I've replied to many of the comments on 'The Hunter' itself, most of your wonderful guesses as to his identity were actually being way more clever than I was when writing it... and so made a lot more sense than who he actually is meant to be. To be honest, it doesn't matter particularly in 'The Hunter' - it's a bit more explicit here. I hesitated to make it so explicit, as I didn't want to spoil the mystery... If you liked 'The Hunter' as it was, maybe you should steer away from this one. (Ha, good one, Jess - telling people *not* to read your story!!!)

Sean Baromis

Mercenary hunter follows his prey to a site of ancient ruins where a mystery awaits.

H Leonard

A vampire story written on the spur of the moment. It seems all too vogue nowadays for vampires to be the good guys so well I wrote this.

Elizabeth Hamill

Character introduction for an elven bounty hunter.

Bitter pursuit

Peter Steffe

Something that was, at one point, going to be the start of a much larger piece (and might still be, one day). I found, though, that beyond this point the quality of what I was writing began to drop off fairly dramatically and I didn't know quite what I wanted to happen. As a result, I decided to cut it here for the time being, although I may well come back to it one day if that particular inspirational spark ever returns.
