Amid a political and military crisis within the elven Republic, a female soldier finds herself torn between her duty to her people and her own ideals.
Wow, what do you know? No horses, dogs, cats, or animals whatsoever except for a stupid little songbird that's far too happy that early in the morning. Eh, that's normal... 'Twenty years ago, life was normal. The world spun and people died when they were supposed to. Now, after your last breath, you get stuck on a five year or so waiting list. Why the delay? No one really knows, but that doesn't concern me. My only problem is staying alive for I drew my last breath long ago and haven't aged a day since. Everyone I met in the past has mysteriously disappeared and there are no traces of my existence outside of the military. Suits me just fine. Gives me time to drink a beer or two in peace. Too bad the military itself wants to know why.' - Lynn Laurens

When Communications officer Abigayle Fremder is put in charge of Alien relations she meets an unusual Kaskarian male. This Kaskarian, by the name of Warlord Leon Kiscoh, is said to be the fiercest Kaskarian in the Universe, but when he is around Lieutenant Fremder he changes totally, he becomes a kind, sentimental man. The Purple Alien World as of yet has no name. I know, it's ridiculous, but until I come up with a name for it, I'll keep referring to it as PAW. Well, here's the history of the PAW; backstory which (I hope) explains Xanthippe's people's reasons for their decision. Like the others, it might be a little inaccurate with the dates, but, who cares?

At long last, the flashbacks end and the plot resumes!I apologize for the heavy, heavy exposition here, especially when it comes to vampires. As I've said in some of my comments to part 6, I'm writing this story inside-out and trying to compensate with generous use of the exposition stick.
This story explores the question of loyalty, and the price a young officer is willing to pay to maintain that loyalty.
