Another one of my agonizing pieces, I suppose. Hopefully, the anguish is in the story, and not the reader. o_O I think I've decided to implement this into the same world that Mother of Tears comes from, but I don't know that it will fit in early. Let me know what you think. I'm working on several others, but my output seems to have slowed down recently. I'm sure that comments would help me to put out more work (not so subtle hint ;). I have to dedicate this story to my lovely despicable (in a good way) wife. She poked and prodded at this story till it reached this stage. She is still very disturbed by it, and she won't let me carry sharp implements around the house any more.
A small story inspired by Emily De Burca's story, Moving On.
Rangi and Rewi are tawaki - a species of penguin, living peacefully in their village on the shores of a fiord. However, they are about to face tragedy - at the hands of malicious mammalian invaders. A sort of anthropomorphised look at the impact of introduced species on an established ecosystem. Written initially for a magazine, and thus one of my few genuinely short stories.
The PendantFor Epona, the gypsy life is all she has ever known. She has always known that she was different, but could never extract her story from anyone. On one fateful summer morning, under the burning desert sun, she is about to get her wish. Nov '07 - minor editing of grammar. (Still needing a complete overhaul)2012 Project Status: On hold until Dragon Mistress is complete.
A tribe walk along the frozen lands of Maniho, accompanied by a powerful wizard. They reach a rich town, but find out time was frozen in ice. All that remains are the people, locked away in blocks of cold ice. A terrible spell was put on all of Maniho, a spell done a creature terrible and evil.
In the elven Tribe of Knowledge lived two companions, separated by both age and study. Although very different, they were wonderful friends; until tragedy befell them both. REvision: September 2004
Next part of the journal. I'm not entirely happy with it, but I can't say what's wrong either...ah well :)...Tell me all what you think!
Set in the distant past, in Central and South America. In a time of warring empires and tribes, a young woman is kidnapped from her village. She falls in love with her 'rescuer', the king of the empire she was kidnapped by. When the queen dies, the empire needs a new co-ruler. The young woman wants it to be her, not knowing what dangers will lie ahead. In the form of the king, or the conspirators against the king, her life is threatened, and she has to be stronger than ever before if she is to make it through alive...
First of all, it's a very tentative title. I'm not even sure if I like it that much. I love the idea of gypsy clans and that's pretty much the background for this.
I’d just like to point out this all of this is a work of fiction. Any reference’s to families, the origin of words or the history of the human race are completely made up and are not based on any facts.
Something that i decided to write. nowhere near finished though. tell me if you like it!
Here's the second part to the Lei Fyrlight story. Whee! I was writing it at like 1am in the morning. What can I say? When I've got a rythym going I need to stick to it. -_^ Read the exile for the Epilogue to this story.
While searching for Anias, Lauren and her companions are ensorcelled into a terrible nightmare...
I'm splitting the chapters into two parts, just like the prologue. This is part one of Chapter One. Where will Christoph lead Ravirus?
Congradulations! You survived the first chapter! And feel possessed to continue, for whatever reason...This is the very long chapter two, in which the infant Adrienne goes to live with her father and the Elves... Oh, and of course, as usual, I'd really appreciate COMMENTS!!! Good or bad, anything!
A honorable tribesperson discovers something shocking about her mentor and is later exiled from her tribe. How does she deal with this?
This is actually more of a prologue to work out what happened to this character before she enters into the main story. I'll probably 'canibalize' (to use my writing instuctor's term) this later and work it into the story itself but for now this is sort of an intro. I know it doesn't seem finished and though it doesn't have magic in it yet, the story itself will. I would love to know what you think. Cheers.
2012 UPDATE: Sadly, I just don't have time to work on this piece anymore. Other stories and characters are demanding my time and attention. So even though I've chosen to keep this up on my shelf, I won't be posting any further chapters. If you're looking for a current project, I recommend Dragon Mistress. Here is the first chapter of my nanowrimo 2007 story. Rayne has always wondered about the hurricane that landed her family on an island that no one has ever heard of. Newly motherless, she is welcomed into the tribe by almost everyone, but there are those who don't like her because of certain gifts that develop the longer she is there. Now, 15 years later, another hurricane is about to disrupt Rayne's life. April 20072012 Project Status: On indefinite hold.
I have recently updated / edited / and fleshed out this story and successfully sold it to Scourge (a dark fiction lit journal). At this point i have no idea when it will be put into print, I will be sure to let those of you who are interested know. I have kept the rights to keep this draft here.
