Don't get me wrong -- this is not a warning against all fey -- this is directed at those of the Unseelie Court, the faeries that lure men to their halls and keep them there for what seems a few days, but when released upon the earth 7 years has past, or 70 . . . They are the fey that captured Thomas the Rhymer and gave to him his mixed blessing . . . This poem just sort of sprung to mind, half-fledged and wrote itself, almost up to the end.
An odd bit of free verse made up like a song . . sort of . . . something a soldier would sing when leaving home and hearth, or perhaps a bard taking up arms to defend his homeland . . .
