Broken (v.2)

Ok, so remember that old piece of mine entitled "Broken?"  Well, I redid it.  WAY redid it.  And I'm really rather proud of how it turned out.  After all, I've worked on this for a few months, probably one of the longest-running pieces in my gallery here.  Plus, it's my first experience with a 3D modeling program.Process:I first sketched the background lineart using Reims Cathedral as a bit of reference, and then inked the lineart with a micron pen.  I really tried to make this a more architectural piece, since most of my work up to this point has been largely figural based.  Then, after pages of figural studies for the angel, I hadn't settled on one that really appealed to me.  Then I downloaded Daz's free software, Daz Studio, and posed the Victoria model just the way I'd pictured the angel in my mind!  I then saved that render and opened it in Photoshop, only to find that she was really pixellated, so her edges were all jaggy.  Which is really a shame, because I spent a long time getting her facial expression to be just the perfect combination of agony, despair, hope, and revelation.  Time went by, and then I scanned the background into Photoshop, and started coloring it.  I dropped in the figure (such as it was) and added things like wings, blood, rags, hair, shading, light sources, multiple layer upon layer upon yet another layer...*groan*  Retouching again and again...Wow.  I think I like it!Subject matter:A broken angel, symbolic of the trials we humans put ourselves through, putting our faith in our own strength and merit, only to find our hopes dashed and our wings clipped.  There's nothing we can do to earn redemption...Her tattered and bleeding wings slowly fade as she struggles with their weight, and she's bound by her sorrow and guilt...But freedom shines down on her from above, and she accepts it with a pleading and grateful spirit...for she knows she cannot save herself.Suggestions?  Comments?  More than welcome!Fall 2005
