Jinx the phoenix is the fifth and last of the models I built of the "big five" - griffin, phoenix, dragon, unicorn and pegasus. I made this model of metal wire covered with papir maché (body) and pipe cleaners (legs and head). The eyes are painted wooden beads. Claws and beak are made out of fimo clay. I used up an enormous amount of feathers and downs for this model, and I had to cut each and every one of the feathers to right size and shape. Eyes and legs painted with acryl paint. There is also gold paint sprinkled on the wings, but it might be a little hard to see. To make the legs, I wrapped plastic tape around pipecleaners, glued sequins on to look like scales and painted them.
