Seen by Kathleen May and a group of boys in Flatwoods, West Virginia on September 12, 1952. It is one of the most bizarre in the history of ufology. There are very few pictures, even in the World Wide Web on this most unique and spooky entity. I therefore decided to post my more comtemporary version base on the witness records on the Green Monster as it is also known in Flatwoods.
After the Kathleen May and the six boys witnessed the Flatwoods Monster on 12, September 1952, it generated considerable amount of interests and disruption to the ordinary live of the locals in Flatwoods, West Virginia. Skeptical authorities tried to pacify the once sleepy town by suggesting that what the seven had seen was a common barn owl.
The government also officially explained that the sighting as being attributed to a near by passing meteor and an owl on the tree. They also came up with a series of explanations comparing the barn owl with the Monster described by the group, discrediting the witnesses stating the facts were grossly distorted by them. One thing good though did came out of the whole situation - Overnight, Flatwoods was put on the map and thousands of people visited the area. After making nationwide headlines the story was also broadcast via radio and television.
This picture is the comparison between the Monster and a Barn Owl, which I had made so that those that view it can make their own judgements between what the group back then saw that faithful night was just a mistaken identity or the genuinely bizarre encounter of all time.
