These are my two griffin miniatures I made. They are both painted red clay, low fired. I made them after doing a bit of reading on griffins. The one on the left is much more regal. He is predominately eagle, as he has front claws and a wonderful white feathered tail. He is white (and supposedly feathered) from his head to about midsection. The other one, which is curled up for a nap, is predominantly lion. He is graces with front paws, not claws, and his tail is of a lion. Only his head is white. This one would have great running abilities, and would use his wings for shorter flights near the ground. The first one would likely use his powerful legs to launch him into the air, but then take long flights up high in the sky.
