This is the painted version of the sketch I uploaded. I'm semi-happy with how it turned out. I had a lot of trouble with it, starting off in watercolour and ending in acrylics because the colours just weren't working right. I'm not tremendously accomplished at painting water and seem to have forgotten how to do clouds also. I blame it on my period of uncreative depression. Even a small break can set you back hugely as an artist. It is a shame. As for the content it it based on the true story of two seagulls who were seen fighting over a piece of food. Here, however, they are dragons fighting over the food on the ship (the underdog wins by the way). I went with the diagonal perspective because I had seen an old painting of a lion taking down a zebra. It was painted with diagonals for drama and I was aiming for the same effect. Plus it adds to the idea that for creatures of the air like thes up and down have very little meaning. I'm pleased with the way the dragons wings frame the ship.
