Ok, so my French might be a little dodgy, but, whatever. This picture took about a year from start to completion, and I'm *really* proud of it. Ink on computer paper, ruined with colored pencils and miraculously fixed in Photoshop. November 2002-October 2003

Life After Dark, Chapter 2

When April Aghjayan committed suicide several years back, she didn't anticipate that she'd wake up. Or that, in doing so, she'd discover that all the stories she'd ever heard about vampires were mostly wrong, except for this: ALL of them had killed themselves. Not all suicides become vampires, of course. It's actually pretty rare, especially these days. But there is a reason that, long ago, suicides were decapitated and burried at crossroads. Of those who do come back from self-inflicted death, most are too emotionally fragmented for normal cognitive function. They exist as revenants, first returning to bring death to those they loved in life, and then, if they aren't destroyed by the sun or fire before that, trolling old churchyards, cemetaries, abandoned hospitals- places of death. It's up to the few vampires who do retain their sanity to hunt to revenants down and destroy them. As they say, it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
