Flapper Vampire

Oh, the 1920's. Prohibition, speakeasies, gangsters and tommy guns. Short little dresses, pearls, bobbed hair and, oh yeah-- this little vampire seen here. I don't know where she came from, as the style is certainly different from other pictures I've done, but I like the clean, flowing lines. Recently relocated from my Lothlorien gallery, and made to look pretty by Kassly who makes much of my art look pretty. (circa 1999)

Life After Dark, Chapter 2

When April Aghjayan committed suicide several years back, she didn't anticipate that she'd wake up. Or that, in doing so, she'd discover that all the stories she'd ever heard about vampires were mostly wrong, except for this: ALL of them had killed themselves. Not all suicides become vampires, of course. It's actually pretty rare, especially these days. But there is a reason that, long ago, suicides were decapitated and burried at crossroads. Of those who do come back from self-inflicted death, most are too emotionally fragmented for normal cognitive function. They exist as revenants, first returning to bring death to those they loved in life, and then, if they aren't destroyed by the sun or fire before that, trolling old churchyards, cemetaries, abandoned hospitals- places of death. It's up to the few vampires who do retain their sanity to hunt to revenants down and destroy them. As they say, it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
