Faer'vik she said his name was, the shrouded woman that left him....it was the day before the Summer Solstice he had been brought to us, he was but a quarter of a suns path, and still a babe. brought to the Village Elders and later to the Wise woman, they agreed that there was not an ill omen that followed him. he was given to loving parents that had lost a child to the bitterness of winter, but took him in wholeheartedly as though he was their own. as he grew, he pulled his share at their farm, and and played, as boys do, with the other children, and had his fair bit of fun and trouble with the friends that he made. as he came into manhood, the nightmares came, and though at first they were difficult times to be sure, his mother, father and friends stayed by his side in love and friendship, seeing him through the worst of it. through that time his father taught him of duty to family and how to til the earth, as to make him ready for the day he would start a family of his own.that day would not come in this lifetime.... They came without warning, a War Band of Jotun, during the spring equinox when our guard was down, and set about razing the village......and claiming the women. those with the ability to fight, including young Faer'vik, fought hard but to very little avail as fatigue set in, because Faervik showed the most spirit in the fray, they chose to make an example of him, by killing his intended bride in front of him then setting to kill him......it did not end well, as fate had other plans.....a grunt turned into a growl, a groan turned into a snarl, and a yell of defiance turned into a Helish baying that shook all who heard it to the core .... where stood the boy turned man stood a beast. a beast whom promptly set about killing the Jotun whom had a hold of his beloved, a beast whom would leave after the incident, after thinking that because of what he was, the village would reject him.......a beast whom many would still call friend....... but he will never know.......and he will never return...........
