There’s a story behind this picture. In the 18th century in England, there was a man whose horse, Bes, was the fastest of his town and the entire region. He had won every competition, every race against other riders. So when one day a strange man with a large black horse, challenged him, he accepted without doubting. The way they had to run was long, and it didn’t take the man long to let Bes take the lead. But during the race, the man realised the distance between them was getting smaller. He looked around and realised it was Satan himself whom he was racing. Nobody could defeat a horse from hell.. Because he recognised the true identity of his challenger so fast, he could get himself and Bes in safety just in time, by riding into an old chapel. The Devil was furious, but there was nothing more he could do… The drawing was a birthday present for my dear friend Stéphane.
