Tyrian Galley

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

I was watching 'The Importance of Being Earnest', and they sing a song, lyrics by Oscar Wilde, describing Paris waiting for Helen: 'The western wind is blowing fair/Across the dark Aegean Sea/And at the secret marble stair/My Tyrian Galley waits for thee./Come down, the purple sail is spread,/The watchman sleeps within the town./O leave thy lily-flowered bed/My lady fair, come down!' This is what I thought of when I heard the song. It looks a bit messy, I'm afriad. The white circle in the middle is when I pushed hard on the pencil in the picture that was above it in the sketchpad. The shape of the boat is a little funky, but I like the water... At least I DID, before I saw the scan! Grr. Automatic pencil, prismacolor (scholar) colored pencils.
