The Rasanji are a nomadic people that travel the lower Plates, (desert plateaus jig-sawed with deep, narrow canyons). Once a year they gather at the Great Snake valley to trade, celebrate and race their prized Draken. The number of Draken a ‘Sanji possesses are a direct indication of his/her status. These lanky bi-pedal reptiles can cover more distance in a day than a man can walk in a week. They don’t need to drink water as they get enough liquid from a diet of insects and roots. Take note of the bony hood-like protrusions along the crest. This is a trait passed on from their poisonous ancestors and this clever feature helps the Draken vent heat to regulate body temperature. The Drakes (male) also use them to great effect when courting the much larger Draki (female).
*I have a thing for long, powerful legs. I also greatly adore and admire reptiles. Beautiful! It was inevitable that these critters would eventually crawl out of my brain. I Love it!
