To grossly understate, this took me a while (about 2 weeks). I have a terrible habit on obsessing over details rather than looking at the picture as a whole, but I tried to curb that tendency with this piece. I also wanted to make it a distinguishable scene but still have her sticking out from her environment, so I echoed the same technique in the grass as in the leaves of the trees to make the forest look like its enveloping her while still retaining a definite location. Originally, she was going to be some sort of harbinger of winter, with frost beneath her, but I felt that that took away from her as a definitive focal point. Painted in Photoshop.
