This is the prologue to Chosen Gifts (working title), a novel I have been writing since eigth grade (9 years). The story has gone through about 5 major revisions, but heart of the story has always been the same. Mists will be longer soon, but this is the bare bones giving a small history to Eilayna, the main character, and her sister Joilynn.
This poem was inspired by a course I took in fairy tales and folklore. I was particularly intrigued by the idea present in our cultural mythology that states that forests/woods are bad places. Hence this poem.
This chapter introduces Eilayna and Joilynn, and concerns itself a little with three people who will be important later, Jerec, Sitarma, and Queen Consort Karola.
In Chapter Two we learn about the girls' history and why they were given up. This chapter is far shorter than I would like, and will be longer when I get the chance.
This is an original short story. It is not yet completed, and the part I am uploading ends just before the first mini-climax. I am going to list it as high fantasy, although the magic is loosely based on Native American beliefs and practices.
This is a retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale, only much darker than the familiar Disney mice and fairy godmother. I was inspired to write this after a literature class focusing on fairy tales.
