Evil comes in the guise of a narcissus bloom; when picked, the evil surfaces; and Hades, in lust, draws Persephone into the Underworld to make her his queen. Demeter, mother of Persephone and all that grows, waxes despondent and everything green on the earth withers; fields become barren deserts and petals curl brittle into themselves. Seven pomegrante seeds decide the fate of the world: three months of cold and bitter, arid soil and birdless sky to correspond with a mother's anguish. Green and explosions of blooms when Persephone walks the earth.
