This is a quick something I did (on Sunday 22nd Feb, 2004) when I realised I had to do a drawing for my Art Exam, and the quesiton was about 'differences'. I decided to take on the theme of the difference in a woman at different stages of her life: a maiden, a mother and a crone. Done in one HB graphite pencil. The Hourglass (and, if you can find it, the scythe) represent time and death, the sun youth and life, the clouds represent being relaxed and carebeing -free, the moon represents Death, and the stars the life beyond it... I kind of like the surreal aspect of this one. I ended up doing three clay heads, portraying these three women, as my final piece for the Exam - which were done being clumsily painted a day ago. Maiden looked angry, Mother looked sad and Crone looked... insane. But hey!
