This picture is based off of a very old folk tale called The Serpents Wife. It goes something like this: There was a serpent god, who went through many wifes. Not because they died of old age, it was because he consumed them whenever he caught one cheating on him. Granted, not just his wives were unfaithful. The serpent god would go out on a nightly basis and sleep with other women. Jealous and angry, his wives would then cheat on him in return. For many years this went on. The god would remarry, cheat on his wife, and when she cheated on him, eat her. For many years this went on, 'til one day he married a beautiful villager. No matter how many times he would cheat on her, the village woman would never cheat on him in return. She always remaind faithful, no matter what. Some say, it was because she was afraid of being devoured. Others say it was because she truley loved him.
