Ferus antevolares

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

This is a creature in a fantasy RPG I'm making. The name, loosely translated from Latin, means 'Beast that formerly flew.' In the geological past, this species possessed wings and hunted it's prey from the air. It has since lost the wing membranes and now uses the limbs to skewer it's victims. It's prey includes deer, tapirs, capybaras, and the occasional unarmed gnome or halfling, along with similarly-sized animals. It usually leaves larger and better armed creatures alone unless threatened. In case anyone is interested, the antevolares has parts from a bear, wolf, cat, deer, and pterosaur. #2 pencil on drafting paper, colorized and a background added in Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition.
